Looking Forward To Positivity Returning Monday

Is the new staff meeting with the players tonight?
I sure hope so. I want to believe the players will at least give him a chance (doesn't necessarily mean staying or not)...but at least MEET the guy.

You can always still transfer, but Rogers should get a chance to meet with the whole team and then players individually. If all or most of the players just bolt, storm off, or refuse to even meet ISU's new HC, then they aren't the caliber of people that Campbell said they were. I really, really hope that isn't the case and they at least meet with Coach Rogers and see what he is all about.

One positive from a schematics and game approach perspective is that when you have very little margin for error in everything like we do, not building everything around trying to keep every game a one score game, can raise the ceiling.

There are a lot of games we could have won with a more aggressive approach based on what we saw early in the games - taking into account what we saw beyond just other team's making adjustments. When you try to win by not losing instead of winning by winning, you play with a different edge. It's exactly why KF and Iowa had a ceiling for decades despite being in the weakest half of a conference there ever was.

I'm hopeful that we come out with more bite and energy because we can win in the Big 12, but we can't always keep our tail tucked and expect to fly. Even Iowa is starting to adjust and they won some games they wouldn't have just 2 years ago.

You’ve hinted you think JR will be better in this regard. Good reasons for optimism?

There’s two sides to that coin though.

I think the staff he's looking at (at least according to early reports, I'm not personally in the know) and his past, he seems to understand and approach things with a more aggressive tone.

Absolutely. However, we've seen teams less talented than us have much more success with similar athletes when it relates to winning in the margins. We've absolutely had success and I wouldn't trade it for anything, but there could be a case for being a more energetic team at a time when our conference peers have already gone that way.

I'm just wondering when they introduce Rogers at the basketball game, will the ovation be as loud as when Kaydn Proctor was introduced at Carver? :jimlad:
I feel for the guy. He’s probably great. But he’s arrived under some really ****** circumstances. And you’re gonna struggle to find much resembling excitement.

Love what Campbell did for us, and I think the ball control strategy, complemented with the 3-3-5, was the right call early on when the B12 was still air raid heavy.

But it also felt like we choked in the games that could’ve truly got us over the hump. 2020 CCG is the biggest missed opportunity.

If a little more aggression wins us some of those games moving forward I’ll welcome it.

Not to mention the other option was the “instant gratification” with Mouser.

I like what I’ve seen about Rogers and think he has more long term upside. But if he struggles at all out of the gate there will be fans on here crushing him. I plan to show him support as long as possible.

To be fair if he struggles I think the heat will be on JP way more than coach. I’m just glad that people have spoken up and we know where the blame lies in all this.

Meeting with him is at least giving the basic respect to the school that has given you a bunch over the years. Not even meeting means you don’t care about ISU.

He is somewhat uninspiring tbh, not that he cant be a ruthless winner tho, until we start seeing wins... In fact I think that is his best trait, a ruthless football winner.

If Rodgers fails to go to a bowl game in his first two years it should, and hopefully will, cost Jamie his job.

I think ruthless in general. 3 years as a head football coach and you are on your 3rd school already. Interesting decision to be sure.

We have had the weekend to b**** and complain, now it’s time put it in the past and move on. We can’t change the past but we can be hopeful about our future. Let’s give the new staff our support and welcome them to the Cyclone family. Time for the next chapter in the Cyclone legacy.
I say Cyclone, you say Power

Meh, I have just listened to about 10 interviews, they guy was instrumental in the natty at SDS, was there pretty much entire career, and the way he talks, winning and punishing opposing teams seems to be his main goal.
