Any chance the 10 or so major money bag donors who can do it, gather and pool a substantial amount of money to "buy" a FB team for 26? Im not saying money to last 5 years, I'm saying emergency few years money.

Who knows other than them & AD JP?

I would love nothing more than for that to happen. I will continue to donate what I can, but I would be more inclined to help even a little more if I knew those donors with bigger wallets ahead of me jump started the whole process.

Them doing that and making it public would really help ISU FB right now.

You know if these magic donors existed we would have had the dirty money to buy players already.

It ironic that the student athletes who were “starving” and struggling to get by now make more than their coaches and professors.

I would honestly be shocked if anybody from the 2-deep is here. Exceptions may be a couple guys that are from Iowa and at the end of their careers who may not want to start over somewhere else.
I’m thinking you will be shocked then. If the top earners/starters leave. That creates money and a position for the other guys. Many of our players this year weren’t world beaters, they were system guys. Why would a player leave a team they will probably start for to leave for a place for about the same money that they don’t have a lock on a starting spot or definite playing time?

They aren't "magic".... these people exist.

They're literally in suites at ball games, the expensive tailgate parking spots, their names are on buildings and ISU structures, etc. They definitely give already, but what is being asked is if they would be willing to come together and increase the % or rate at which they all donate to help in the short-term uncertainty... And the money isn't "dirty".

Who really knows if they're willing to or not, maybe they just stay donating at the level they already do... but it's not a dumb question for us fans to ask.

Our donors are different from USC, Penn State, Texa$$ and other blue bloods. They are rich but even there are different kind of “richness level”.

Look at T Boone Pickens - when he was alive he could probably have donated 2 stadiums for OSU and it would probably have been just a small dent on his wallet.

This out of control situation eventually could let to more people getting apathetic. The market rate for a good QB is 2 million - so how much do you want to keep on pumping the money before you finally say “ok, the hell with this” because you can’t keep on raising season tickets, raising student fees and asking donors to give more.

I really hate to point it out but Iowa State is one of the handful of FBS teams at the power 4 level with what could be described as an FCS donor base. Many people have tried for many years to innovate methods to grow that base with good success, but the pace of the spending growth is accelerating. And I realize ISU has punched above their weight for quite awhile now, thanks to great culture from coaches who have been willing to provide a home town discount to be here. My main worry today is that JP is realizing that programs have to fit the realistic level of funding over the long term because funding does not necessary follow winning at every school.

And I imagine thats even more difficult at least in the short run.

Probably easier to rationalize investing in what had become a proven commodity in Campbell than a a coach who is unproven here currently.

I would rather them to use that money for 27 or 28. Give Roger’s a couple of years to get his feet on the ground.

System guys in a different system than we will see moving forward. Maybe I'll be wrong, I just don't see many of the contributors sticking around.

I could see Bacon sticking around for his final year.
Agree, he is one I had in mind being he will be a super senior and is from Iowa.

Sure they can do it, the question is will they. Which I doubt. Could those same donors threw a bag of money at Campbell like they did at BYU, to get him to stay, sure, but they didnt.

Yup, but some want to believe it’s all about how JP distributes NIL money.
