Maybe that's the real reason.Doesn't he know Penn State won't allow the team to wear black jerseys?
PSU's navy is pretty close to black. I'm sure Campbell would push for a monochrome uni- pants & jersey.

Hate to post this because my thoughts usually don’t mess with the outcome. But at this point CMC has accumulated more money than he could ever hope to spend. His future earnings are likely more about giving back to the causes he wants. Knowing he can be the coach here as long as he chooses definitely has value. Penn St isn’t a picnic. Unless the next coach can win their share v. The Buckeyes they won’t be long term.
Opposite of that he has a better shot at a Natty. But the leash will always be shorter.
Think it worked out for Cael.Just sayin, the last 20-30 years or so, have not been kind to ISU head coaches leaving for greener pastures.
Did you read what I said? When did a buyout prevent a school from hiring a coach. Heck, what was Kiffin's buyout? Or Sumrall's.
$2M can pay a few football players to stay.
Mac hasn't coached in 10 years. No way could he navigate today's NIL driven college game.Mac might be a choice for a stopgap hire. Seems like he's in Ames for half the games anyway.
There is financial security and then there is FU money, Campbell will be in the later group. This sucks for ISU, but I am not going to blame any coach for taking a better job with more resources, its why they get into coaching in the first place, to get to a school that has all the resources and advantages that you need to win a championship. Football is not like basketball that if you get a few great players all at the same time you can win it all, in football it takes of roster of great players, and there are only a handful of schools that can do that, Penn State is one of those schools. And that's all fine. He and his family already have financial security. It's his right, but wanting more money doesn't jibe with his message.
How about Scheelhaase?Scheelhouse not interested.
Who said he's making the move mainly because of money? A lot of people change jobs because they are looking for a new challenge. And if it pays more, bonus! And that's all fine. He and his family already have financial security. It's his right, but wanting more money doesn't jibe with his message.

I was responding to a specific comment. I never said he is.Who said he's making the move mainly because of money? A lot of people change jobs because they are looking for a new challenge. And if it pays more, bonus!
I've never told an employer to pay me less than they are willing to. So if Penn State is offering him the big bucks, he should take it.
And remember, Campbell has always been about his assistants getting paid as well.
No one is likely still there that had anything to do with that. The portion of the fan base that still idolized JoPa on the other hand.Amazing how money cleanses all sins. Takes some serious mental contortions to block out the entire Sandusky affair.
Fifth choice at Pedophile State. That just doesn't seem Campbellesque.I'm in Columbia, MO. Drinkwitz just got a $10 million per year new contract in part because supposedly Penn State was interested in him.
I think he and his agent floated that rumor to leverage more money from Missouri. He was 4-4 in the SEC this season. 26-24 for his career. Never got Missouri to the conference championship game. Unlikely Penn State wanted Drinkwitz.
Campbell on the other hand given what he has accomplished I believe Penn State is interested but he had better win. That fan base isn't as forgiving as Ames.
I see a lot of people saying he had better win, what is the worst that could happen? He goes to Penn State makes $10 million a year on a five year contract and then if he is fired, they all land on their feet and take another P4 job. At worst he becomes a high paid asst. coach for a year or two before he gets another opportunity. The question is Campbell the type of coach that can be successful at a school like Penn State, worse coaches have national titles at other schools, hell look at LSU and Auburn.I'm in Columbia, MO. Drinkwitz just got a $10 million per year new contract in part because supposedly Penn State was interested in him.
