Matt Campbell to Penn State??

It seems likely Campbell is leaning toward taking the Penn State gig; however, he has been loyal to Iowa State. The money might be too hard to turn down, but moving your wife and four children 900 miles to a new community is difficult. I have no prediction about how this will turn out, but money is not everything (though it's a lot).

More credibility in that some are willing to put some money on their opinion, but they also prohibit trading on non-public info (not sure how they police that), so it's not like anyone with true insider knowledge can cash in.

I have no insider info on sports or ISU sports. I do have insider info in unrelated field. When I’ve told people something vague online like “trust me that is not going to happen”, if anything it’s usually people doubt me far more for hinting that I have the info I actually have. I’d be better off not even telling them I have anctual insider info.

Who cares? As long as it doesn't take away from Men's basketball.
I think we're talking a little bit more than other sports could offset. I was thinking more on pairing down CyTown or cutting refurbishing costs for CyStephens, etc. Or tabling other expansion projects.

I can't imagine his daughter who is a senior at Ames High would want to move. Of course they have the money to have 2 residences but I have a hard time thinking CMC would want to be away from family until she graduated. Obviously children don't make these decisions but it would be kind of awful to uproot her with one semester left. No insider info, just a thought that's crossed my mind.

My gut is he is using this as a leverage to negotiate a new contract to increase the pay to his coaches.
Doubt it.

Penn State is a top 10 football program. They draw 100k+ fans to their games, have the financial resources and are located in a recruiting hot bed.

And it's not far from where Campbell lived the first 30+ years.

If Campbell is considering PSU, it's because it's a great job. Nothing to do with negatives at ISU.

I HOPE he stays. He's a solid coach, but ELITE LEADER of young men. He's done right by ISU for 10 years, he's earned my respect to pursue other jobs.

And at the same time Matt's made ISU a better job and I'm confident Jamie would hire the next great leader of ISU football if need be.

The Hoiberg's left when most of their kids were still in school. But I do think that the Campbell's like it here more than they did.

Maybe she is being bullied?

Those are real concerns no doubt! BUT...it might be easier to mitigate those factors than turning down a job I am sure he daydreamed about at some point in his career...because this job might not open again during his career and he might never be offered the ND or OSU gigs.

My guess is that CMC doesn’t want to leave but he wants to make sure Iowa State can give him enough to compete in the big 12. I’m sure Penn State has given him some outline of what he can get and it is up to Iowa State to provide something that doesn’t need to necessarily match but allow him to not be in a disadvantage against big 12 peers.

I think it comes down to does Iowa State have enough to counter back or does the university have their hands held behind their back?

I think if Iowa State can ease his doubts he will stay. If we say we are at our limit he will leave.

Bad news. My son just sent me this pic, he turned in NCAA26 and it’s updating. Logical assumption is that they’re moving Campbell over as the PSU coach in the game…

This is even better than flight tracking conspiracies. * golf clap *

Hoping it shakes out like the Joshua Jefferson situation.

I don’t think Joshua ever wanted to leave ISU, but the offer he got from LSU was lucrative enough it would’ve been foolish to not take that back to Otz and Brent and see what they could do.

This is a sentiment I can support...although without knowing how MC views the PSU gig...I could see this happening.

Let TJ do it. Usually really warm the first few games in September he could get the crowd going at the Jack running out in a Speedo ahead of the team.

What if...

What happens to Cy Town being properly completed if he leaves and the FB program struggles for years? I'd assume the current and future President want nothing to do with that scenario. Let alone Pollard.
