Please search my post history in this very thread... You'd find I support EVs... Just not for my unique personal situation at this time. Continue your troll hunt elsewhere.

You're now proving our point that you indeed are a troll lol.

They can be anywhere from your typical Casey's, to a mall, do a rest stop, to a Culvers, to a Taco Bell, and on and on and on. They are always placed by some businesses.

They just aren't mostly at a typical gas station.
Well you have certainly angered me.

Had you said that instead of stating

Sure you're technically right that I don't "need" that range, as I could always stretch the day longer or spend a night in a hotel. But what I "desire" isn't available with current infrastructure and technology.

What are you 'skeptical' about? That its ~600 miles round trip from Ankeny to Chicago, and is ~10 hours of drive time? That the amount of fast charging stations is sparse in rural areas?

On my end this is all about the amount of time in one day, and my tolerance for how much driving/working I can do in one day.

TLDR:
Right now a gas vehicle doesn't add extra time to that day in comparison to the current EV offerings. An EV with a true 600mi range completely negates that issue for my use case. That is why I keep saying a 600mi range; at that point there is zero advantage to me that an ICE has over EV...

I don't know what I can say to you other than for a fourth time I understand why it isn't right for you in this time and these places.

I feel like you're making the kind of claims that add to fear and misinfo "whenever they get to 600 miles range"...it's just not a rational need or expectation. We run into this thread all the time where people have both ICE and EV being honest about the advantages and disadvantages of both, yet it's always people who have had exclusively ICE who are ADAMANT about what life with an EV is like.

Right now a Ram 1500; 20-23mpg, 25 gal tank.

I hope these guys arguing with me aren't in the EV business because they are having the opposite effect of their intent...
If you're driving 1,000+ miles a week or so in a full-size truck, then no, an EV is not for you. Especially if the truck bed actually has things in it. No further thought required for that extreme use case.

I really don't need that truck, it is just what the company decided to give me; sometimes it gets used as a truck but I could get by fine without it. For reference If I were to get a new vehicle now it'd be a Santa Fe Hybrid. I would need a midsize SUV or so, a Tesla 3 wouldn't cut it.

A hybrid would make a ton of sense from a MPG standpoint for that much time on the road. There's a reason that Priuses are extremely popular cars for career couriers and the like. That's just cost saving.

But that is not what you are saying, you use the word 'skeptical.'

I make it very clear I have a very specific use case. Sorry if that is somehow damning to the desired narrative, as it should not be; as I wholly support EVs are right for the vast majority of use cases.
 
Most charging locations have places with restrooms and food near by. They aren't necessarily close to a gas station.

Honestly I'm kind of fine either way.

If I'm on a long trip where I know I want to get real food once or twice, if I can charge near somewhere I actually want to eat then my charge time is effectively zero so that's my ideal. There's going to be bathrooms and a place to walk my dogs anywhere there's real food too.

When it's at a traditional gas station in the middle of nowhere at least I can pee, grab a coffee, walk my dogs and by then either I'm charged up or maybe wait another 10 minutes tops. I'm not doing that PLUS taking time to find a restaurant so it's either food I brought or stuff from c store.

Again...this is on rare road trips. Every other day of my life I'm saving a ton of time and money that my car is just alway fueled with nearly zero effort and 1/4 the monetary expense. For me these trips are mostly in summer and fall about 900 miles round trip from sea level up into Sierras, and I don't even have an EV with great range, and it hasn't been a big deal at all.

Skeptical was trying to be nice to you about the need for 600 miles of uninterrupted driving. I've said NOW FIVE TIMES that the frequency of your trips and the remote areas you are heading to means an EV probably is not right for you.

By your own posts you don't actually drive your current gas car 600 miles non stop in the worst fuel economy conditions.

When you say stuff like "when they get to 600 miles range" that's just creating absurd fear/standards that people don't even have for gas cars. The stuff you're concerned about would be better addressed with charging speed and/or network access rather than thinking EVs need to all get to 800 mile range which is what we'd need for 600 mile range to be reliable in sub optimal situations.

Agree. I guess before I was angered in this thread, my thoughts would be better said that I predict based on my experience, once we see longer ranges in EVs (dare I say ~600mi..) you'll start seeing these fleets move towards EVs.

As I’ve read several of these pages one of the biggest EV statements is you just pee and grab food while charging. If they aren’t at convenience store……….?? Where are they?

Lot's of variety in terms of location. Instead of going to a convenience store to get food and use a restroom, you're more than likely going to a restaurant or fast food joint.
