***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

The list of one?
Two. Rattler has been better also. But yes, I got him confused with the current draft class, of which every guy between Dart and Sanders has looked better (only excluding Milroe who hasn't played yet).

That's at least 6 different QBs we could've drafted who would've been better than JJM is now. Quintessential Vikings moment to spend a top-10 pick on statistically the second worst QB to ever play meaningful snaps.

He was far far later and if he were starting I'd agree. Got benched though.

Face it, who couldn’t just look at JJ splitting reps with McNamara for a year and say if he’s only slightly better than him, he’s going to struggle.

You want your WR from OSU, let other teams keep the QBs.

Personally, I don't worry about identifying a QB as much as the draft plan. KOC reportedly really liked Drake Maye but we couldn't get a decent enough price to move up and get him. Then we panicked a bit and jumped up to grab our backup option. That panic is the part that worries me, we can't be giving up draft capital to grab our backup options. Overpaying out of fear loses people fantasy football leagues, let alone the NFL against professionals.
What makes this worse is that it has come out in the last couple weeks (and seems to be legit) that the Vikings and Patriots had a deal for the pick to get Maye. The sticking point was a mid-4th round comp pick the Patriots wanted added. Kwesi said no. Brilliant move.

Hey, McNamara has 7 TDs to only 6 INTs this year. He's very nearly an ok QB at a middling FCS school.

KOC, Flores, and McCardell should stay.. Everyone else can go in my book!

Unless there is significant internal tension amongst KOC and KAM, they should be a packaged deal. If one goes, both go and if one stays, they both stay!

I grew up in a Bud Grant era.
Hated the Vikings.
Enjoying the f, outta this current ********.
JJ was surrounded by Michigan o talent.
Welcome JJ, to the next level.
Enjoy your paycheck...and yeah, the forever sideline "notebook."

I guess JJM is back and appears to be the starter this weekend. We all know the season is a total wash so all we can hope for is to see something that looks like improvement. Of course at this point a couple of first downs would be a vast improvement.

Either major improvement or complete trainwreck are fine with me. The worst case scenario is that he mostly sucks but has just enough flashes that the team wants to roll with him and mostly the same roster next year, only to have another lost season.

What's really frustrating is the complete lack of adjustment from the coaching staff handling McCarthy. His level of play in games was certainly showing up in practice, but rather than adjust the scheme or the play calling earlier during the pre-season, KOC essentially said screw it, let's roll with it. Now he is finally admitting some guilt about that publicly, but I'm still not convinced he is going to change how he calls the games. It's been blatantly obvious to anyone watching that the current game plan isn't working, so he's either blind to it, or pride won't let him change.

I fear this the most. Kwesi and KOC are going to want to prove this pick is correct and not a complete disaster. If he shows even a shred of improvement it will be sold as huge progression and justify another year. I think this is the most likely outcome, unfortunately.

At least we're all familiar with the complaint.

I feel like they’ve been trying to fit a square peg in a round hole this entire time. Look at any scouting report on McCarthy coming out of Michigan and it doesn’t match up with KOCs offense. Not any of the QBs he’s been successful with before.

I think the “all JJM did at Michigan was hand the ball off” is a stupid take, but the scout on him was that he lacked accuracy on deep balls and was kind of a “one speed” thrower that lacked touch and struggled with layered throws.

Yes and no. The scout on him was that he excelled in PA, which is a staple of KOCs offense.

As for the inability to layer throws and be consistently accurate on intermediate and short routes, that's not lack of fit with a specific offense. That means you're probably not an NFL QB.
