Second bye week of the season

I'm an old man and my memory isn't the best but I don't remember having 2 byes in the same season. I'm curious why the Big XII is doing this. Are there more teams in the conference than TV outlets to televise the games?

Believe it is due to just how the Calendar lays out. Think there has been an "extra" Saturday the last two years thus an extra bye. Believe it's back to just 1 bye next season.

Also we have actually had 3 Bye's this season due to playing in Week Zero.

There are 14 Saturdays for 12 games, not counting Week 0.

It happens in the years when the first Saturday is Aug. 30 or 31, so it'll come around again in 2030 and 2031.

For the team I like the 2 bye weeks compared to just 1. Gives them a real opportunity to refresh/heal up as season goes on. 3 of them is probably over the top though.

They are always referred to as bye weeks. NFL specifically does this.

This. Drives me nuts. Same thing when people say moral victory instead of morale victory. Very rarely does moral victory relate to sports in any way.

It's too bad we weren't able to take more advantage of having 3 bye weeks throughout the season to heal up (guess that didn't happen), feels like we're wasting it on account of the losing 4 games in a row.
