YouTube TV Getting Ability to Split Into 4 Screens

So early on their were rumors that Disney was holding out because YTTV was planning to launch a sports only option for about half the price of their current price point. This would have been a huge threat to Disney's standalone EDPN Ultimate service as well as their Hulu Live and Fubo services. Perhaps the inclusion of Ultimate on YTTV isn't a case of Disney jamming in more services and forcing a bigger YTTV price hike. Perhaps it was actually a peace offering from Disney. We will cut you in on Ultimate if you agree to drop the idea of the sports only subscription option.

If that happened, Google got fleeced in the negotiations. Dropping plans for an all-sports package that would bring in billions to include some ESPN+ content doesn’t seem like a feasible trade.

Would love to see an all sports package but highlt
Doubt Fox, ESPN, etc would ever license to that entity because it jams stations like FX and **** no one watches into the current streaming model. And that’s good financially for them.

That must have been some negotiation. All ESPN Unlimted content (I.e. ESPN+) will be available on YouTubeTV for FREE by the end of 2026.
That’s awesome if true about ESPN+. I’d love if I could watch that stuff on YTTV.
Does this mean cancel ESPN+ after the first of the year?
I think it means at end of 2026 at the latest.

Also, for the people who still don’t have abc and espn, you may need to go into the customize setting and turn them back on, that’s what I had to do

Per my link in a later post, YTTV did maintain rights to launch an all sports package including ESPN networks as a result of this negotiation. Seems like great news for Google.

I wonder if we’ll ever hear about the long term impacts of this. In the streaming age, moving from one provider to another is so easy that I’d guess YTTV saw a lot of defections, but most will be just 1 month or shorter blips. I know I plan to go back to YTTV next month. What this month has shown me is just how crappy the multiple app life is. ESPN Ultimate seems great, but I have to have the ESPN app, the Disney app, the HBO app, and the NFL app to watch everything I want to. And all those apps are for just two subscriptions. Plus, only with the ESPN app can you just watch a channel. Everything else is episode by episode and that’s really annoying for watching sports.

This is suppose to be coming to YTTV on Monday:

  • Expected to include dozens of MLB regular-season and select post-season games in a soon-to-be-announced agreement
  • Premier League soccer matches
  • Gold Zone hosted by Scott Hanson (daily whip-around coverage for Milan Cortina Olympic Winter Games in February 2026)
  • WNBA Regular Season and Playoff games
  • Big Ten and Notre Dame Football
  • Big Ten, Big East and Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball
  • Golf Majors (includes select coverage of U.S. Open and The Open Championship)
  • Cycling (Tour de France, Tour de France Femmes; Vuelta a España, and more)
  • Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks undercard races
  • Olympic Sports (e.g., Figure Skating, Ski & Snowboard, Gymnastics, Swimming, Track & Field)
  • Popular shows, including PFT Live, The Dan Patrick Show, The Dan Le Batard Show, and Fantasy Football Happy Hour with Matthew Berry

This NBCSN channel is now live. You may have to go into your Live Guide listings and "Unhide" it.

FYI don't know if this is available for everyone but YTTV had a $20 off the base plan for the next 4 months promotion on my account.

1. Go to your YTTV Settings
2. Then Membership
3. Under "Your Plan" hit the "Manage" button
4. If you have the Promotion offered to you it should be on this page.

Dang...not offered for me! I think I have taken a $10 discount that lasted 6 months a year or so ago...probably know I already benefited from this type of thing?

Yeah don't know how they determine who gets the promotion or not. Might be by the amount of time of your last promotion used, money spent, length of continuous membership, or something else. Not sure.

Bump for those who didn't see this this morning.

Dang. No discount for me.
Same. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I did claim the discount they offered in the fall during the ESPN outage? Maybe you can only have a discount every X months or something like that.

Seems like that will cover everything I need, and I like the YTTV interface. This is going to be my go to for football and basketball season. Will still plan to drop it during the off-season.
