I did some digging to look at the top five single game scorers for the Sisters. Who are they and what did they do? Here's a look.

Thank you for this write up. It shows the rare air Audi is in.
Last night was the damndest thing I saw, get home from the game jump on CF and see people b*tching about Audi scoring points. Some folks on CF would complain about a Natty if we ever get one.
Hell the reason Audi got the points is because it what the defense was giving. Bill even said as much in the presser.

It's quite an accomplishment regardless of the opponent. My guess is maybe some have an issue that it was done against a far less superior team than had she done it in Big 12 play?

I'm interested to see how this team stacks up against better competition after 4 blowouts to start the season. Drake will likely be the first real test. I've just caught some of the games on TV so far but the thing that stands out to me so far is I think we have some better depth on the bench this year. That will go a long ways over the course of the season if we can get some more bench production and a few extra minutes of rest for our key players.

@GT25Ump cmon buddy use your words and explain where I'm wrong in the post you dumbed.

I think there's an argument both ways. It's silly to nitpick such an awesome performance. She was totally dominate.

At the same time, I think everyone knows that for this team to hit new levels we need better guard play. Addy and Audi will do their thing. But the returning guards need to improve, and the new guards need to find their place. And there probably wasn't a ton of growth in that area last night watching Audi dominate.

They only could watch her for half of the game. There was still 20 minutes of play for players other than 55 to explore all other facets of their game.

It feels like people forget that last year offense wasn’t the problem. We scored the second most PPG ever last year. An improvement in record is likely to come from our increased defensive intensity rather than our guards getting more shot.

I think some of the frustration may come from the schedule this year and the disappointment of last year. We have a veteran team that is highly ranked, but our schedule has been very soft. I think people are hoping to see improvement, but it is really hard to evaluate our play against teams like Valpo.

I'm a bit shocked as to the amount of complaints on here about last nights game. They are valid concerns and I understand them, however, if a team is going to stubborn like valpo was and refuse to double Audi at all, then we should make them pay for it. There's the saying that good teams take what is given to them and let's be real here, if BF had not done what he did and thrown it to Audi all night, he'd be reamed for being stupid for not taking the easy points in the low post.

It was the Audi show last night and I'm fine with that if she's played 1 on 1. I know BF's history and if he forces it into her when she's doubled or tripled, then we have a major issue ( same as last year) and a discussion needs to be had.

For now, Congrats to Audi on a great game and record breaking performance as well as being an amazing person off the court.

Let's celebrate that!!

I don't think it helped us or the program at all last year getting our buts kicked by UCONN and SC so, a lighter schedule is good. This teams goal is to host the first 2 rounds at Hilton and I think this schedule will help facilitate that goal. It still has Iowa and the FL games are solid.

I guess if your goal is to host the first two games of the tournament, then it makes sense to pad your record and not challenge yourself.

I think there's a fine line when it comes to scheduling. You have to pad your record because it helps with some of the metrics looked at by the committee and then by the same token, the committee wants teams to challenge themselves and have a good SOS.

I've said for years that the guidance from the committee needs to be better so that teams know how to schedule to build a resume that impresses the committee. There's also the problem that the 2025 committee may look differently at the metrics than the 2024 committee did. One year it seems they value SOS and the next year the NET might be more important. The inconsistency makes things tough.

I feel our schedule this year tries to be "middle of the road" and it does that. Keep in mind, we don't exactly have teams busting down the doors to play Audi and the rest of our Cyclones.

I guess we will see how we perform in conference and in the NCAA tournament. I think we have the talent to win the conference and to make at least the Sweet 16. The game against Valpo allowed Audi to have a record night, but did little to prepare this team for any significant goals. Games like that are common, but we have a lot of them this year considering our returning talent.

Another thing folks are forgetting by the end of the yr we were the walking wounded. Emily wasn't 100% I'm pretty sure and Audi had the one leg wrapped from ankle to hip if I remember correctly , not sure if Wilson(?) was still wearing the mask for the broken nose. Our guard court has a considerable speed and size advantage as compared to last yr IMO.

I understand people wanting to see players other than Crooks and Brown to light up the scoreboard to show this Cyclone women's team is ready to take that next step and be an elite team nationally (Top 10).

But I was encouraged to see Audi's teammates recognize the best play was to pass to Audi. Sure Williams, Brown, Hare, Jackson, Harris, Beaty, etc. could have chucked up shots. But the highest % play was a pass to Audi. Also recognize Audi's teammates consistently made solid post passes.

IMO the bigger focus during the non-con by fans should be on our defense. Is this a team that is at another level than ISU teams over the last 4-5 years? Against inferior competition, our defense is significantly better from a help defense and on-ball. But we'll see how the women play against Drake, Iowa and T-giving Tournament as the real barometers.

First there is way too much complaining about the schedule which was set a few years ago. I have been impressed with the defense and the new players we picked up. We will have some tougher games coming up to test the team. The good thing about what we have seen so far is we are very deep and everyone has shown the skills they have.

Add in that I am sure our budget for the "buy" games is less since we have the rev share so we likely have to play who we can get to come to Ames on the budget we have.

Very few teams schedule tough games preseason. Iowa hasn’t. TCU has one tough game amidst all patsies. Akin to our game with Iowa. It’s just what it is.

As fans it's easy to say ISU should play a tougher schedule. But it takes 2 coaches to want to play P4 vs. P4 non-con games AND feel like coaches will only play those game if they are on highly watched TV network.

My assumption is non-con games last year against UConn and So Carolina were made-for-TV games based on the Cyclones run in the 2024 NCAA Tournament with exciting games against powers Maryland and Stanford.
