Hey great win by the team. Good season so far. Always appreciate it when adversity reveals character. The yellow pants & Cyclones script got me thinking again. Again, kudos to all involved in AD & licensing for loosening the reigns a bit to allow more vintage stuff on uniforms. Secondary logos show confidence in the strong I-State branding and creates new opps to catch eyeballs.

On bluesky last week I saw a post by Homefield announcing their new retro jacket collection. There are 66 schools participating. Here's ISU:

See the large vintage stamp branding on the front? Eyeballing it, looks like it takes up about 10% of logo visual weight. Simply can't miss it. I looked at all other 65 jackets. The schools that only use a tiny barely visible TM or C mark are:

Bama, ASU, AZ, Ark, UA, Bay, Cal, Cin, Clemson, CU, Duke, UF, FSU, UGA, GT, ILL, UI, Iowa, KU, KSU, UK, Lou, LSU, MD, Miami, MSU, UM, MN, MSU, Miz, NCSU, Neb, UNC, NW, ND, OSU, OU, OSU, Miss, UO, OSU, PSU, Pitt, Pur, Rutgers, SCar, Syr, TCU, Ten, A&M, Tex, TT, Tulane, UCF, UCLA, UConn, USC, Utah, Vandy, VA, VT, UW, WSU, WVU, Wisc

Here are the schools that require a large licensing stamp:

ISU

Since there is absolutely positively nothing serious going on in the world at all, I'm begging ISU to please put the kibosh on vintage stamp requirements. This may be a minor thing, but I can't sleep at night. Thank you

Is the "vintage" mark something isu adds? Why is that even required?

Also yeah not feeling that jacket. Its the sleeve stripes.

I’ve seen several things I’ve liked but the vintage mark ruins it, I’d never buy something with it.

I think Williams & Blum both mentioned in their podcast last week (can't remember which day) that that giant awful trademark is going away on all the vintage logos. The trademark office at ISU listened when folks complained about how ugly and unnecessary it is.
Can someone find this?

I should've linked the other meltdown thread I did in September about the Cyclones cursive logo with ample discussion about the vintage stamp as well.

After the thread fell off the board and people stopped posting, a full week later professional designer Amestoplease shared his updated take on the cursive to go with his fancy Orrnado logo that so many of you like. I think we all missed it and its definitely worth sharing again - see the last posts in that thread:

Its ok except for that generic garbage microsoft word script they use on the back.

If you are going to make a true "vintage" ISU anything, use the correct script. I hate that as much as I hate the Bucky copy Cy mascot logo.

I LOVE the leaning Cy.
I can barely see the "vintage" mark so who cares.
That coat is absolutely atrocious.
The leaning CY is a great logo.... just wish they would change the letter "I" to a red border around it. The black border screams the TOE.

at least make it the football or basketball Cy. the Cy leaning on the I just ain't it for me.

and honestly - that jacket looks like it's trying (and failing) to be a Starter jacket.

It's the KMart version, Logo Athletic.

That coat is fugly, the vintage mark doesn't bother me.
I love vintage ISU clothing, but it's reached oversaturation and the designs seem to be thrown together haphazardly. If you can find authentic vintage gear, that's the way to go.
