***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I'd love to see a stat on which teams get the most pre-snap penalties, 'cuz it sure feels like it's MIN this season. That's squarely a coaching failure at this level.
It’s also really bad when your WR1 and QB each get called for a false start

I suppose this a a bad time to bring up Sam Darnold currently has a perfect QB rating so far today. He's also an NFL MVP candidate. Thanks Kwesi.

There's no point in waxing about Darnold. He's worth about $35,000,000 and playing on arguably the best team in the NFL around the whole roster (and also playing a complete bottom feeder today, but still).

You are correct... they had a chance to keep him for 1 more season and chose not to. They thought McCarthy was a better option. Oops.

I like KOC, but his deficiencies are really starting to cause problems. His clock management is poor at best, his team is horribly undisciplined, and his play calling is just not good. He abandons the run and expects his young QB to play like Joe Montana. And on 3rd and 4th and short, apparently he doesn't know you can just get the first down. It doesn't have to be an explosive play. It is becoming clear he is overrated as a coach - especially in game management. He needs to give up play calling and just be a head coach.

Do you think he's a Super Bowl winning QB?

If the answer is anything except a firm "yes", then they made the right choice letting him walk.
He is capable of winning a superbowl. If he does or not, we'll see.

Vikings Fan Line caller: “ You know who should’ve gotten sent to the blue tent? KOC after his decision to go for two.” Lol.

That's funny. In the end it didn't matter. This team doesn't have a 2 minute offense.

Analytically that is the correct choice, but personally I disliked the playcall. Go to someone besides Jefferson when he hasn't done **** all day long.

They had to be close to an NFL record for false starts?
The NFL record for false starts by a team in a single game is 9, set by the Buffalo Bills at home against the Cleveland Browns on October 11, 2009. The Vikings recently tied the second-most false starts by a home team since 2000, with 8 in their November 9, 2025 game against the Ravens.
  • Record Holder: Buffalo Bills (9 false starts) on October 11, 2009.
  • Most Recent Example: Minnesota Vikings (8 false starts) on November 9, 2025.

If the Vikings would’ve been able to sign a deal like the Seahawks I would have been all for it. It seemed like at the time the expectation was >$40m a year if not $45M. Not sure if he took less than market because he liked the situation in Seattle, or maybe when the Vikes were moving on most of Darnolds leverage was gone. Probably also some prisoner of the moment with how terrible he was the last two games.

Minnesota had 14 3rd downs and 5 4th downs against Baltimore today and passed the ball on every one of those plays. 6 of the 3rd downs were 5 or less yards to go. Minnesota is 4 for 19 when passing on 3rd or 4th and short on the season, meanwhile, they are converting 71% when running those.

Playcalling today was around 4 to 1 pass plays. MIN still leads the league by far in deep throw attempts in short yardage situations.

Coach. Make this **** stop. Learn to run the damn ball.

More on this: among qualified QBs, McCarthy is leading the entire NFL in average depth of target.

Why? Why is this the offense chosen to be ran right now. In what world is JJM ready to be a league-leading deep ball thrower all game long?

A reminder that Caleb Williams was the #1 overall pick, has never tore his ACL in the NFL, and went 5-12 last year with a 2024 season QBR of 43.3 and QB rating of 87.8

JJ is a rookie QB with 3 healthy starts, is 2-1 in those starts, with wins against teams with a combined record of 12-6, and both of those wins are on the road against the division!

He was bad yesterday but he was not the sole reason for a loss.. Let's withhold judgement until he gets 3-4 more healthy starts under his belt!

I just mentioned to a Bears fan yesterday that last I checked, Williams and McCarthy currently have the same number of divisional wins.

I want coach to show me evidence that he isn't going to ruin our fresh QB by putting him into unrealistically difficult situations.
