***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

I just mentioned to a Bears fan yesterday that last I checked, Williams and McCarthy currently have the same number of divisional wins.

I want coach to show me evidence that he isn't going to ruin our fresh QB by putting him into unrealistically difficult situations.
Yep.. I'm trying to come off as too apologist for JJ, because his play needs to be better.. But KOC and the teammates are not pulling their weight as well!

This is all new, he's made 3 healthy starts despite being on the roster for 18 months. We'll know this time next year if this is going to work, not next week

Caleb Williams won 5 games last season. Drake Maye won 3, I think?

These things take time. It would also help if the supporting cast was used differently so that the expectation of our brand new QB isn't to lead the NFL in most passing statistics in order to win.

2022: 7
2023: T9
2024: 13
2025: 31

Trending the wrong way in the KOC era, but 2025 is SIGNIFICANTLY down
If it's a big glut of false starts causing a lot of the drop this year, that could be a JJM problem with cadence. Still, though, I'd place that on coaching to fix. Simplify until mistakes stop, even if it helps the defense a bit. Penalties every drive help the opponent a hell of lot more.

Credit to Jettas a bit here, that doesn't seem to be diva-speak to me. That's "I'm not playing well and need to play better" speak.

He's got patience, and so should we.

JJM limited in practice this week. Injured right hand. Supposedly is playing on Sunday.

True, but those performances were under Eberflus and Mayo. We will know a lot more every week McCarthy plays. But he’s playing with a proven offensive coach and roster (no that it’s mostly healthy). There have been ups and downs, as to be expected.

If you have an offense that did what it did with Darnold last year, you don’t need to overhaul the offense. Their strengths and strengths are pretty similar. The big difference is experience. But the last thing I want KOC to do is run an offense that doesn’t help you evaluate quickly if he’s the guy or not. He’s going to have deep drops and deep routes because heavy PA is the KOC offense, and that’s JJs strength.

He’s made some great plays and great throws. But NFL backups do that sometimes too.

I don't recall JJM's strengths at draft time being deep throw accuracy, but maybe I just didn't pay enough attention. That offense worked with deep ball specialists Cousins and Darnold (who is still doing that now with SEA).

What bugs me is that JJM's passing stats are pretty poor, yet we don't seem to be setting him up for success with frequently deep drops and deep throws as mentioned. He leads the league in ADoT... That's an absurd statistic for a guy playing his first career games. The best QBs and offenses in the league don't play ball this way. I think the best offense KOC has put out there for MIN was ranked 10th. I'm not saying blow up everything and start over, but some adjustments can't be overlooked. Mold the system to fit what you have, not the other way around. We put a ton of pressure on JJM to carry the team.

Not sure about deep throw accuracy (though it looks fairly good) but he was considered to be really good out of play action.

I think the offense is largely set up for his strength. If people think setting him up to throw a bunch of short and intermediate throws, where the windows are tighter and he has to drop balls over the LBs in front of the safeties, that’s not his strength.

He had plenty of times where there were guys wide open (which is rare in the NFL) and he just totally missed them. His lack of consistent accuracy is pretty concerning.
