Being halfway serious here but if it ended up being the Liberty bowl we should consider declining it. We’d probably end up playing Memphis at home again.

Yeah, fair enough on the practice part. I would hope ISU would reach out to the Liberty bowl and strongly suggest they don’t pick us though. There will be zero fan enthusiasm for the game (unless they play a SEC team) and I can’t imagine many fans will travel.Memphis is probably going to be in the playoff.
Plus, if you decline the bowl game, you don't get the 15 practices for the young kids.
I'm cool with all three of these matchups at this point. After Week 10:
Brett McMurphy:
Armed Forces Bowl (Jan. 2)
Fort Worth, Texas
Iowa State vs. Army
ESPN guys:
SERVPRO First Responder Bowl
Gerald J. Ford Stadium (Dallas)
8 p.m., ESPN
Schlabach: Boise State vs. Iowa State
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium (Memphis, Tennessee)
4:30 p.m., ESPN
Bonagura: Iowa State vs. Auburn

There was some stability at the top, but a host of upsets and key results shook up the bowl picture.www.espn.com
And if you decline you also look like a raging *******Memphis is probably going to be in the playoff.

And there's almost NO way Pollard/ISU would decline a bowl invite. And if you decline you also look like a raging *******
That would be idiotic on so many levels. You never turn down a bowl invite no matter how disappointing the season was, especially a school like us.And there's almost NO way Pollard/ISU would decline a bowl invite.
I hope these guys are playing football because they love to play football. You don't turn down the chance to play football for another 6 weeks if you love it. Us fans need to figure out what it means to us.And if you decline you also look like a raging *******
This Week:
Bonagura has ISU vs. Kentucky @ Liberty
Schlabach has ISU vs. Oklahoma @ Houston
I would really like to know the age of people on this board sometimes. I think those of us that have grey in our beards or hair have a different view about our station in the world of college sports than some of those that have been paying attention (or cognicent) for the past 15 years. Would it be great to be better than we are, sure. But, we know how it CAN be and 7 wins would look just fine if we are reaching 9,10 or 11 every other or every few seasons now and a complete DREAM up until a few years ago. That would be idiotic on so many levels. You never turn down a bowl invite no matter how disappointing the season was, especially a school like us.
Cold weather vs. an SEC Team = Auto Win.Phoenix or somewhere in Texas destination for a bowl would be great for the fanbase. I still think a lot would show up.
Memphis, however? Ooof. I've been there 3 times already, I wouldn't go again having been there so recently, maybe in like 5 or more years. Plus, weather might not be all that great again in TN.

I know some will say that is a losers mentality and we should be this and that and blah, blah, blah.
But, we really have come SO FAR. We should not forget that and start acting like dumb dumbs becuase we think we deserve anything. We're a) going a bowl game and b) we didn't get lucky and beat the last place team on the last play of the last game of the year to make it to six wins..... FINALLY. We're getting spoiled and I hope everyone understands that and can try to keep both the passion and the humble.
Damn this soapbox is higher than I remmembered it being when I jumped up here.
