lol Hawkeye twitter it really running with the “almost beat Indiana and Oregon” narrative. It’s borderline erotic![]()
I think Oregon was without their top 3 pass catchers too (2 WR and a TE I believe). This is a huge part of KFs success over there over the last couple decades. They ugly up every game so even when they lose the margin is typically fairly slim, so the fanbase can feel like they were so close to having a huge season and were actually on the same level as teams that were overall much better than them, if only they had a few breaks. Beats the hell out of losing by large margins in terms of what that does to a fanbase.
This hasn't been the case the last 4 or 5 years though. These two games this year were the exception, they've gotten completey blown out against the elite teams since 2021.They ugly up every game so even when they lose the margin is typically fairly slim, so the fanbase can feel like they were so close to having a huge season and were actually on the same level as teams that were overall much better than them
Indiana couldn’t get out of their own way and Iowa caught Oregon without multiple offensive weapons on a dig sh!t weather day. Iowa has caught a lot of breaks and they still can’t get it done. This hasn't been the case the last 4 or 5 years though. That's like saying we are almost 9-1.This is a huge part of KFs success over there over the last couple decades. Everything hurts Iowa fans feelings. The part they never want to talk about is how sh!tty they treat visiting fans.Oregon players go over to celebrate with some Oregon fans and sing the fight song.
Iowa fans/media “Oregon players are taunting Iowa fans.”
Throwing beer cans at people is one of their favorite traditions.Everything hurts Iowa fans feelings. The part they never want to talk about is how sh!tty they treat visiting fans.
I was at the game in Kinnick yesterday, their biggest home game in years, and it was no great shakes. Definitely not louder than a big game in Jack Trice. There is a lot of myth surrounding Kinnick and the Iowa program. It’s why Colin Cowherd aptly calls it the “fake ID” of college football.Since 2018, I have been on the sidelines taking pictures for 27 P4 games between Ames, Iowa City, and Madison. What I have seen this year has convinced me that we are still little brother. Why do I say that? The fans.
Kinnick is far and away a louder and tougher environment to play than Jack Trice. "But JustBecause, its because their stadium is set up better for sound." You would not be wrong in saying that. The pictures below highlight the differences in spacing between the field and the fans at both locations. The fans in Kinnick are considerably closer. There are as many as 13 rows of fans behind the other teams bench before our first row.

But thats not what I am talking about. The 1st half of the BYU game was the first game this season, where fans were loud the whole time. And then the fans quit. We had a 4 point lead and it took 3rd down and the PA announcer to get people to stand up and make noise. Kinnick is loud even when they are on offense and they shouldnt be. With the exception of a couple of endzone sections, they stand the entire game.
I saw a number of people on twitter calling out the south endzone for only being partially full during the game and for good reason.
However the East side isnt much better:

Add in the West side of the stadium sitting on their hands most of the game and there you have it.
"But JustBecause, the team is playing poorly and they arent giving us anything to cheer about." No. Its our jobs as fans to create the environment and help them even when they are down. The first half of BYU showed what difference the crowd can make with 2 false starts in a row. In the second half, we were ahead by 4 points and couldnt be bothered to make noise outside of 3rd down. Its sad really.
Many of the current squawk fan base grew up during the 15 game winning streak and therefore just expect to beat ISU every time, like they did whey they were a young fan. Many of us older fans remember the 70s when it was ISU that was winning and EIU was getting beat by teams 55-0, the good old days.
Sorry part is I could root for Iowa, if they did not have so many douche fans that have to let everyone know they root for the Squawks. We went to the kids WBB game last year, 11:00 o'clock start, on the way out we see a father walking out with his kid, wearing a squawk hat. Its like I get it, you love your team, but nothing on that day had anything to do with EIU, so why wear a squawk hat to a ball game at ISU when they are not playing the squawks? Its like they have to go out of their way to scream "look at me and the team I support."
Everything hurts Iowa fans feelings. The part they never want to talk about is how sh!tty they treat visiting fans.
This is cute, first you say all 70,000 fans never sit in a game.
Then you move the goal post and say well in said section in the 100 level never sit...
Then you move it further saying well during certain games like the playoffs in certain 100 level sections never sit.
Then you go back to not one of the 70K fans ever sits again.
Cute.
I can say there are sections in JTS that never sit too, the ones full of drunk, young students, whos bodies havent worn out on them yet for one.
I also can admit I havent been to a lot of games in a lot of places, but I have been to multiple NFL stadiums and games, and Multiple NCAA stadiums and games, and every one fans stood some and sat some, outside certain sections like the students etc. I have also been to other sports, NCAA BB, NBA, NHL, MLB, etc not one did the entire venue stand the entire game. I have been to concerts, that sure the entire floor stood, but none of the people in the stands stood.
Trying to claim that no one ever sits in Arrowhead is ridiculous. Hell there was a story, that just came out in the last couple weeks about fans getting kicked out of Arrowhead for "Excessive Standing". So obviously standing the entire game is frowned upon even in the hallowed Arrowhead.

‘This Is Extremely Embarrassing For The Chiefs’: Kansas City Fans Cheer For The Chiefs. Then They Get Kicked Out For ‘Excessive Standing’
A football ticket to an NFL team like the Kansas City Chiefs is not cheap. At minimum, you’re probably looking at $200, and on average, closer tobrobible.com
Arrowhead Stadium does have a fan code of conduct, and it includes several clauses that staff might interpret broadly. That includes “behavior that is unruly, disruptive, threatening, or illegal,” intoxication, or “interference with the progress of the event.”
But there’s also a specific clause that says fans must not “unreasonably obstruct the view of other guests.”
On Reddit, one user said they were actually arrested at an NFL game for “excessive standing.” They said they refused to sit after repeated warnings and were cited for general public disturbance.
Another Redditor said a fan near them also got kicked out for standing too much during a game, even though they thought standing at key moments was fine.

Christ, you are agreeing with, and arguing for, a jackass that says he is an ISU fan yet called us Little Brother, and refers to Home games as "in Ames", like every other hawk troll on the internet does.
Cowherd actually thinks there's no better setting in college football for TV viewing than Kinnick Stadium.I was at the game in Kinnick yesterday, their biggest home game in years, and it was no great shakes. Definitely not louder than a big game in Jack Trice. There is a lot of myth surrounding Kinnick and the Iowa program. It’s why Colin Cowherd aptly calls it the “fake ID” of college football.
If USC beats them they will likely finish 8-4 with their biggest win over a very pedestrian Minnesota team. That’s Hawkeye football for 27 years under Ferentz.
They're the least self aware fanbase in the country. Constantly talk ****, but when it gets returned, they whine and cry. Typical soft bully behavior. Iowa City is fun on game day, but it's such a collection of douchebags.Everything hurts Iowa fans feelings. The part they never want to talk about is how sh!tty they treat visiting fans.
That and booing their own players. They make Philly fans look like good sports.Throwing beer cans at people is one of their favorite traditions.
Pedo State lost their starting QB the game before.Indiana couldn’t get out of their own way and Iowa caught Oregon without multiple offensive weapons on a dig sh!t weather day. Iowa has caught a lot of breaks and they still can’t get it done.
