***2026 Minnesota Vikings***

The key to JJ starting fast yesterday was the run game! If we can get something out of the running game, this offense gets REALLY difficult to defend.

On top of that, this defense is ELITE when playing with a lead, as you put teams in predictable passing opportunities. Then the guys gets to pin their ears back and go hunting!

Looking at the remainder of the schedule, I think we need to go 2-2 in our next 4. 2 winnable games at home (but Ravens with Lamar will be tough) and then 2 difficult road games at Green Bay and then Seattle. Then you have a beat up Commanders which should be a W, at Dallas which will be a toss up, at NYG which should be a win, then home vs Lions and home vs Packers. I think we end up 9-7 and just miss the playoffs, but feel pretty good heading into 2026.
Agree, 8-10 win season. The most important though is JJ staying healthy and building on some momentum. Then you head into 2026 with virtually the same roster and make your playoff push with a QB who has 2/3 of a season of experience, plus not rehabbing all off season.

Here is my conundrum..... If the vikings are not going to make the playoffs, tank the season. On the other hand, Kwesi doesn't draft well at all.... the picks would be wasted.

That is a terrible take. This team was always built for a Super Bowl window of McCarthy’s rookie contract. Let the kid grow for a year. If you make the playoffs great, but 2026 was going to be the more realistic window

Why would you tank now and set yourself back 2-3 seasons after building up to right now? Gonna start calling you Woody Johnson soon here.

I suppose they could go 9-8, miss the playoffs and get worse draft picks. I guess we will see how the season plays out.

We're talking one draft pick here that matters, the first one. Unless you're also suggesting selling Jefferson, Addison, Hockenson, Darrisaw, ...

You're playing this season out to try to run at it next season. This was all supposed to be a season ago, but the JJM injury ****** up the timing. This is not the time to blow up and start over.

Draft picks between 12-28 are basically the same anyway. You either stink and commit to a rebuild with a top 10 talent, or go all in to make a playoff run!

Minnesota really has minimal needs if two things happen: 1) JJ plays average or better given the supporting cast.. 2) Stars stay relatively healthy (Can be said for any team)

2026-beyond is the window given knee injury last year

I'm not saying to trade or release anyone, regardless of record. I want the key players to stay. All I am saying is that if they are not good enough to make the playoffs, might as well go for the higher draft picks to help out with next year's roster. This team is definitely built better than the Jets, and other low winning teams. Sometimes good teams run into bad luck and have a bad season.

The last time the Vikings made the playoffs 2 years in a row..... 2008-2009 Brad Childress was the coach. 16 years of being good, but not good enough to make post season runs routinely. The Vikings are good.... but I want to see them stay good on a long term basis. If JJM pans out, maybe that will be the answer.

How does one throw the games this season without pushing out the good players here now?

I don't think players throw games. I do believe they want to win no matter how bad the season has been going. Of course we have heard scandals in other sports, but in the NFL I think the players always put in the effort to win as much as they can.

Your request to "tank the season" while also saying this thing is hard to combine.

The way I'm conveying the point is, "welp, since we are not gonna be very good, let's just lose out and get better draft picks for next year." I'm not asking or wishing for the team to purposely give up. I was a season ticket holder for 25 years, so I want them to succeed.

Yup purposely losing game really helps the locker room chemistry and building a program. The best teams don't tank.
