YouTube TV Getting Ability to Split Into 4 Screens

N
I'm about to just cancel YTTV. I basically only use it for sports.
Not defending Google but sounds like they want to offer a sports only option at a somewhat reasonable price. Disney (like Fox) insists on YTTV buying their non sports channels also thus making it impossible to offer this type of bundle.

Is there a free trial out there (Fubo?) that you could use for a week? I'd give it a week and if still no settlement then cancel the YTTV.
Idk. I'll just do other things. College football has already lost a lot of my interest with all the changes. I don't really like TV shows, so I really only watch movies and sports. Between Amazon and Netflix I can get most of my fix, which isn't even that often. I'd rather spend an hour playing a video game than watching reality TV or whatever else is popular.

I am holding out as long as possible. YTTV and Google are no angels, but canceling and going to anything Disney owns is exactly what they want. What do people think of Sling? Thats not owned by either of them.

Question: Does the the ESPN app (with ESPN+) also include the games on ESPNU?

I'm asking because I've got YTTV, but I also have the ESPN app with ESPN+. It looks like our game against Miss State next Monday will be on ESPNU.

I believe the app would offer it...IF your TV streaming service offers it...since YTTV doesn't offer ESPN on-air channels...you won't get it thru the app.

No. ESPNU is considered a cable channel and you need a cable-ish subscription to view it. YTTV, Hulu Live, Comcast, etc.

cyfanatic is right though- provided you own the channel via a cable subscription, you can watch it through the ESPN+ app. You'll just have to sign in to your cable provider through the app first.

Well crap. Not the answer I wanted, but I appreciate getting an answer. Have I mentioned how much I dislike ESPN?

harimad is correct. The ESPN Plus subscription (I think it's now called ESPN Select) only lets me watch games on ESPN+ specifically. Anything on another ESPN channel, can't watch it.

I went ahead and got Sling as an interim option for ESPN, as Sling was offering half off your first month. Big downside here is that they seem to be hit and miss for local channels, and in my area they don't have ABC. Something to watch out for if you are looking at them to plug the Disney gap.

As for quality of service and the app, all I have done so far is watch MNF last night, so not really ready to compare overall experience to YTTV.

Do you have ESPN unlimited or just ESPN +?

I just clicked on it to see what it's called. It says "ESPN Select Bundle Legacy (Monthly)". It includes ESPN+. I think we got this as an add on because we subscribe to Disney+?

ESPN Select is basically ESPN+. That is the legacy Verizon deal that we have, along with Disney+ and Hulu. You don’t get regular ESPN channels with that, unfortunately.

I am able to piggy back off my son’s account. Until they only allow one person per account, I’m OK for now.

While this all sucks, I pay for Disney to get ESPN+ and YTTV for Sunday ticket. Although I prefer to not support Disney or Google, I am not willing to give up sports for ideological reasons.

They raised my ESPN plus $1.00 two days after I subscribed. The Disney actions, to me, indicate a sinking ship or at least its really damaged. Giving more in use value than you extract in cash value used to be a thing. We are now just waiting to see what we will be given for a price they demand. I am guessing I will have some radio games this winter. I see ESPN as the bad guy in this situation.
