We are little brother

Congrats to those who made what were thought to be the dumbest post of the year. It took till November 3rd but we have ourselves a winner and I don’t think in the next two months anyone can beat such a dumb post

Wait until we lose the first basketball game. It’ll be breathtaking.

Since 2018, I have been on the sidelines taking pictures for 27 P4 games between Ames, Iowa City, and Madison. What I have seen this year has convinced me that we are still little brother. Why do I say that? The fans.

Kinnick is far and away a louder and tougher environment to play than Jack Trice. "But JustBecause, its because their stadium is set up better for sound." You would not be wrong in saying that. The pictures below highlight the differences in spacing between the field and the fans at both locations. The fans in Kinnick are considerably closer. There are as many as 13 rows of fans behind the other teams bench before our first row.

But thats not what I am talking about. The 1st half of the BYU game was the first game this season, where fans were loud the whole time. And then the fans quit. We had a 4 point lead and it took 3rd down and the PA announcer to get people to stand up and make noise. Kinnick is loud even when they are on offense and they shouldnt be. With the exception of a couple of endzone sections, they stand the entire game.

I saw a number of people on twitter calling out the south endzone for only being partially full during the game and for good reason.

However the East side isnt much better:

Add in the West side of the stadium sitting on their hands most of the game and there you have it.

"But JustBecause, the team is playing poorly and they arent giving us anything to cheer about." No. Its our jobs as fans to create the environment and help them even when they are down. The first half of BYU showed what difference the crowd can make with 2 false starts in a row. In the second half, we were ahead by 4 points and couldnt be bothered to make noise outside of 3rd down. Its sad really.

We are not related to those schools. No relation, let alone being a brother of some kind. Move along

This might be the most disliked post in CF history when all is said and done.

I'm still waiting for him to meet me at Oskaloosa Taco John's.
During a timeout tonight, they set up a hockey net and a guy would get a free taco for every shot into it.
If he could get 10 goals he would win a year of tacos.

He won one taco.

I'll admit I do really like Kinnick Stadium. The old fashion feel and how it's situated 10 ft from the streets on any side. I think it's pretty neat. I've been working across the street from it for the last 4 months. That entire area where all the athletic facilities are is cozy and pretty cool imo. Even though it seats around 70k its not a big place . Makes me wish we would have kept Clyde Williams Field and just kept renovating it. I hope at some point we demolish the west upper deck and build a more modern and steeper grandstand like KU has. When KU does the other side their stadium will be pretty badass.
It's a cool stadium to look at or attend if you are an EIU fan, but for the average guy its a pain in the rear to go to games there. Parking is almost all off site, so you are parking in someone's yard or out at the golf course and walking in. Underneath the stadium the space is small and cramped so getting around is nearly impossible, the seats are narrow and people are jammed in. It's one of those stadiums you are half sitting or standing because the person behind you has their knees in our back the entire game if you try to sit.

They should have done what Fry wanted and build a modern stadium out to the west by the interstate, but now they have thrown way to much money in it to ever think of building somewhere else. If you have money and can park right by the stadium, and get into the North end zone its a great place to watch a game, but for the average fan, its a pain overall, but its their team and they love it. If you switched the fan bases EIU fans would be crowing how much easier it is to get around in JTS and the parking all around it. They love it because it's theirs and the memories that have been made there, nothing else.

So the ultimate prize was a year of diarrhea?

The same could be said about any old stadium. Wrigley Field is small and cramped too. Lacks most modern amenities. Id love to have an actual on-campus stadium.

Here we go again. Every few years , the fans are blamed for the losses.

"Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about,"
said Linus. [Linus walks to center stage.]

"Lights, please."

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babewrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.

And that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown
You left out Linus most famous line . . . . F* Iowa
