We are little brother

College football is a dying sport so im not surprised if people aren't that enthusiastic to go to games anymore. It's also extremely expensive and easier to just watch it in the comfort of my living room.

Dying sport?

Great. I was asking as Jack Trice was getting ~102 for the Arizona game. I'll upload when I receive it. I believe the summary has a condensed timeline with specific highlighted sound spikes.
I stopped wearing my watch to the game because by the end of the AZ game I was tired of it buzzing about it being dangerously high volume levels.

Since 2018, I have been on the sidelines taking pictures for 27 P4 games between Ames, Iowa City, and Madison. What I have seen this year has convinced me that we are still little brother. Why do I say that? The fans.

Kinnick is far and away a louder and tougher environment to play than Jack Trice. "But JustBecause, its because their stadium is set up better for sound." You would not be wrong in saying that. The pictures below highlight the differences in spacing between the field and the fans at both locations. The fans in Kinnick are considerably closer. There are as many as 13 rows of fans behind the other teams bench before our first row.

But thats not what I am talking about. The 1st half of the BYU game was the first game this season, where fans were loud the whole time. And then the fans quit. We had a 4 point lead and it took 3rd down and the PA announcer to get people to stand up and make noise. Kinnick is loud even when they are on offense and they shouldnt be. With the exception of a couple of endzone sections, they stand the entire game.

I saw a number of people on twitter calling out the south endzone for only being partially full during the game and for good reason.

However the East side isnt much better:

Add in the West side of the stadium sitting on their hands most of the game and there you have it.

"But JustBecause, the team is playing poorly and they arent giving us anything to cheer about." No. Its our jobs as fans to create the environment and help them even when they are down. The first half of BYU showed what difference the crowd can make with 2 false starts in a row. In the second half, we were ahead by 4 points and couldnt be bothered to make noise outside of 3rd down. Its sad really.
Holy balls, getting caught up today on CF…

This guy is… well, **** this guy.

I'll admit I do really like Kinnick Stadium. The old fashion feel and how it's situated 10 ft from the streets on any side. I think it's pretty neat. I've been working across the street from it for the last 4 months. That entire area where all the athletic facilities are is cozy and pretty cool imo. Even though it seats around 70k its not a big place . Makes me wish we would have kept Clyde Williams Field and just kept renovating it. I hope at some point we demolish the west upper deck and build a more modern and steeper grandstand like KU has. When KU does the other side their stadium will be pretty badass.

That’s exactly what my friend said (on the field). He started actively checking/recording before plays. This was a 3 min
sequence prior/during one of our touchdowns later in the 1st half.

Would have loved to get Sowell’s catch at the beginning of the game.

I'm at this point as well. I live in Ames and could easily go to any game but I perfer to just sit in my basement and watch ISU and other games.

Yes. Unfathomable that a Cyclone fan could be critical of the fanbase for sitting on their hands while on defense and think that Iowa is a tougher place to play even excluding the fact that the stadium is set up to be louder.

You cant cherry pick to fit your dumb asss thoughts. Excluding the fact that the stadium is setup to be louder. Ho Lee chit my 12 year old knows this isn't how a discussion works.
