*** Official #22 IOWA STATE vs Colorado Game(Day) Thread ***

This team’s legacy so far is, “let’s just do enough to get out of here with a win. Let’s just get to the bye week, let’s just rely on the zebras…” No heart.

Are they gonna grow a pair a be killers?

This defense gave up 21 points (not putting that last FG on them, that’s 100% on the coaching staff for going for it on your own 19).

That should be enough to win every Big 12 game you play…it’s not like there are ‘85 Bears level defenses anywhere in the conference.

This loss was on the offense and coaching.

Seven of those points came after Tyler Moore stupidly got in the face of the defender on Sama’s 2nd TD and gave Colorado a free head-start and a short field on that drive.

If we run out against BYU with a 3-3-5 and have offensive play calls short of the sticks, I'll know they did nothing during the bye week to actually improve

Putting aside my complete disagreement about needing to change the defense, I think we all know the biggest news out of the bye week will be Konrardy back and like three other guys somehow out

Great point! no penalty the kick goes to like the 4, comes out to 30 with run

What's even more incredible is that the lineman kicker on that kickoff would have probably had a touchback without the penalty

ISU's MVP today: The oft-criticized Sama (far from flawless, but he played HARD)

Runner-up? The we-don't-trust-our-kicker placekicker. At least he didn't f*** up anything.
Sama had a good game, but he is limited because he just does not see the field well. He has yet to figure out to put his foot in the ground and cut up the field. He just keeps pushing outside and hoping he can get the corner. Its great when he gets to the corner, but when he cannot, he just keep forcing it outside.

Great point. I hope someone asks them what they’re doing in practice to get so many guys hurt (including, inexplicably, multiple kickers)

A pretty big difference between Campbell and TJ there.

There are times I wish TJ would ride the refs a bit harder, but overall his poised demeanor tends to rub off on his team
And I don’t think you have to be perfect here. You’re going to lose it sometimes as a coach, but he doesn’t move on sometimes.

If the receiver is being pulled to the ground, that’s holding.

If it happens while the ball is in the air, it’s interference.

If the ball is tipped after the receiver is being pulled to the ground, it’s still interference.

The only way you wave it off is if the ball is tipped/touched before the illegal contact by the defender.
I think all that is right, but the throw was so uncompetitive it brought in a lot of doubt.

I wouldn’t say they suck, they are just brutally slow for P4 football.
You're right. Slow white boys from small town Iowa. Ebel and Bacon are somewhat decent but guys like Barnes and Klosterman and Goodwin have no business being on the field other than special teams. LB recruiting needs to improve. The Nebraska kids coming in next year are not gonna be any different than what we have now.

I do think we develop 3 star DBs really well, the problem is that right now guys like Coffey and Taylor are just inexperienced.

I love the DTs that we recruit but it's hard for them to have success in our 3 man front. DEs we bulk them up so much that we don't have any speed rushers. The 3-3-5 doesn't work anymore, but Campbell and Heacock refuse to change. I don't get it.
