I have definitely heard them called kybos quite a bit in Iowa but never outside the state.

Someone once told me that KYBO stands for “keep your butt off” but I think that was a joke, I doubt that’s where the term comes from.

Apparently I've lived my entire life thinking that "kybo" was common slang to describe a port-a-potty. It seems to be a local Iowa term.

Have never called it anything else and I grew up calling them "kybos"

Used the term on a teams call at work today and not a single other person on that call knew what I was saying.

Did anyone else learn this term as a kid?
Grew up in Iowa, never called them or heard them called Kybo's except on this site. Maybe regional????

I’ve lived in 5 states. Kybo is definitely a central Iowa term. Porta potty is most common term I’ve heard/used.
This. It is a DSM/central Iowa thing only. Next thing to shock you with. That little area is the only ones that do the dumb joke stuff/beggars night too. Don’t move and act like we are the weird ones for not doing it.

Kybo was the portajohn brand name back in the day. It looks like someone still owns the name, and the contact name listed is "Plummer".

Have never ever heard it called a Kybo until I was curious what this thread was about
