Hi folks!

Can you believe that wrestling season isn't that far away?

I got emails about basketball media days, which just means wrestling isn't far behind with their scheduling.

I want to go into this year's media days differently and offer you all better coverage. I have the teammates to support me through media day in a way that I'll have an interview video covered, and Jake Brend will probably go and help do a highlight of the day. BUT, I want to bring you more than just the usual: here's the media scrum interviews and here's some photos.

I would love to hear what types of things you'd like to see, what I haven't provided that you would like to see, and if there is anyone specific you'd love to hear from that isn't your typical Dresser, Yonger, etc. I want to make the most of that time with the team. In the past, I've always prioritized time with Metcalf and St. John, which I still want to do, but change it up a little so that I can make the most of my time.

Pumped for the season. So ready to see this starting lineup and praying for healthy wrestlers so we can put last year behind us aha

Maybe some deep dives on the transfers. There are some great ones this year, and it would be interesting to hear more from them and why they chose ISU. Rocky got a lot of attention, and for good reason, but many people may not know much about the others.

Appreciate all of your hard work!

I would like to see more information on recruits (who’s in town for a visit, who we are targeting, etc…)

Some of my person thoughts on content:

1. Information on potential and who we are targeting. I know this is sometimes donor level info but a sneak peak is always nice!
2. interviews with new guys on the team and their motivations to wrestle and be great. Help us get invested in the transfers in this new era of student athletes movement between schools
3. I also enjoy more written content, not as much on videos. But that interview after practice where they asked "who would you not want to date your sister" was some pretty hilarious content and enjoyable, I don't recall who did it exactly.
4. Content on the nutrition and daily lifestyles of some of these wrestlers. I know they can be extremely regimented and scientific at times and I find that all very interesting

That's just me. Overall, as a lurker and rare occasional poster, I think there's been a lot of good things going on here and I appreciate reading it all!

Something like what you do with InCyde zone would be cool, even if somewhat irregularly during the season. It'd be awesome to get David on throughout the season but I know trying to get him locked in is like trying to handle a fart in a skillet.

Maybe Kyven and Marcus Coleman, or any other alumni who may still be in the area.

CRTC is putting out some excellent content on Instagram and X. Randi Yeager was hired in May and the accounts have been pumping out content since then.

My take here, don't kill me. Coaches (in every sport) obviously can't openly talk about recruits, but let's not kid ourselves, coaches/admins (in every sport at every school) give info to certain reporters on recruiting. It might take additional research, outreach, and reading between the lines.. but I think it can be done. It is the one giant thing, as someone who follows the sport religiously, that frustrates me - the lack of recruiting info out there. I understand if it can't be to the level of football/basketball, but it would be fun to know who is on our board, who is visiting (instead of after the fact), interviews with recruits while they are here, etc. I also say all of this knowing that wrestling recruiting is abnormally way more secretive than the 2 major sports. Just wish it wasn't.

We can get names of who visits. The additional information comes from trying to get ahold of the person via twitter, instagram, etc. Lots of high level Iowa kids being recruited, would be interesting to get conversations from them

Some media interviews can be listened to on Cyclones.com. I like to hear more stuff that is outside of the general media interviews

I am curious to know why we are wrestling a dual in Humboldt again this year.
As long as Dresser is the coach, I think there will be a dual in Humboldt. Giving back to his high school program & the 1st fundraising group that helped him get the CRTC going. Dresser doesn’t take those that helped him get started for granted

Would be nice if it moved around at some point.

As far as Jaq's question goes. If they let you 1 on 1 interviews like you did with Metcalf a couple of years ago.

Disappointing that the dual in Humboldt isn't against a non-conference school/community college like Nebraska -Kearney instead of a Big 12 opponent/South Dakota State. Season ticket holders are missing out on an opportunity to watch a conference matchup in Ames, while still paying for a ticket when the dual is held elsewhere. (Actually more $ if they choose to go to Humboldt without a reserved seat)

It seems like there are more creative ways to "give back" to those who helped Dresser get started than "take away" from others. Great-- have a dual in Humboldt, but maybe make it an invitational, dual against a D-2 school, etc. Season ticket holders should be able to watch "home" conference duals in Ames.
