If Kysen wins the spot hopefully he'll give the team a solid year. His history over his time in Ames, he's not once looked anywhere close to a contender/blood round guy in any tournament setting.
He's had good dual matches and an occasional good match in a tournament only to follow them both up with multiple head scratching matches.

Terukina and Oz wrestled the other day, Terukian won 4-1. They did not wrestle yesterday, sounds like Meza will go against Navy and I bet Terukina goes against Iowa. I heard Frost is gonna try to get down to weight and go against Navy. Casey and Redding wrestled great match Casey won, but heard his knee got tweaked do not know how bad. Euton Looked great against MJ, I think MJ needs to consider going 174. Euton is solid, just needs some experience.
navy 1st 3 weights ?
125 meza
133 frost or grice ?
141 casey or redding ? depending on the knee

Last year he beat Tanner Jordan who is currently ranked 5th. Also beat Poulin who’s ranked 9th and beat Barnett who is a multiple time AA.

I know he’s inconsistent, and also has some head scratching losses. But that’s why I have him as a contender, not a sure thing, not even likely, but definitely a contender. Two good days in March and he’s on the podium. The talent is there and 125 is an absolute crapshoot the same as it’s been the past couple of years.
How many 125 pounders had wins over AA’s last year but didn’t AA themselves? I bet it would be shocking how many, and I don’t think calling them all contenders would be accurate.

But Terukina has had lots in his career, not just one, and not just last year.

I actually think I would call them all contenders. That’s just how 125 is. There are 20 contenders.

I don’t think anyone would label him a contender to AA

If he has improved at all in scramble situations, he will be tough to beat. Only 2-3 guys at the weight that he would have little chance of beating this year.

If he isn’t more consistent, I don’t think Dresser will think twice about pulling him. We have other options.

He was ranked 12th by Flo in the preseason rankings before he decided to go 33 for a while.

Where would you draw the line on a contender? The 12th ranked guy seems like a reasonable “contender” for 8th.

I can only speak for myself here, but part of my issue is I think he is over rated consistently by the ranking services. Like Kysen peaked with beating Barnett at the Humboldt dual last year (which, he seems to have something with barnett specifically figured out) and then fell off a cliff for the rest of the year.

Edit: Meant to add, I also think Kysen is someone just underperforms their potential. It's become clear that his potential will not be realized and Dresser has pointed to his own actions and lack of discipline for that. I would be quite content sitting Kysen even if he is beating the other people at the weight by a few points (say less than a MD).

If he’s our best option, put him out there and pull him for Diversent or Meza if the major inconsistencies show up again.

What are everyone's thoughts on Euton this year? Sounds like he is doing great in the room and even beat MJ (Flo #9- 165) in a best 2 out of 3 wrestle off. Realistically what is his ceiling / floor? I didn't see much offensively against Garvin. Was that match an outlier, first dual against a tough opponent, or does he perform better in the room than under the bright lights? Also, does MJ now push back up to 74? How has he faired against Riggins and Naak?

I know nothing except what I saw against Garvin, but even in a loss, I thought he looked tough and surely had the better gas tank, but he needs to find some offense. If he can score, he’ll be just fine at 165. Is he an AA contender? Can’t say that at this point, but would assume NQ level.

If he does end up being the guy at 165, MJ absolutely has to move back up to 174, IMO. He’s the best option there, and I’m not sure there is much of a debate about that.

Terukina is a proven performer. As frustrating as his inconsistency has been, this is not surprising. He’s our best option in a huge spot against Iowa.

Can’t imagine the struggles Osmany is going through right now off the mat. It will be fine for him to take a year. We have an AA contender in Terukina.

We do? There are 7 AAs at 125, a number of other guys at 125 who have beaten him over the years, and there's Lilledahl who's a currently unranked beast. He also has a 1-6 record in 3 prior trips to the NCAAs.

He's a solid guy and I think he wins 125 against Iowa but he's a long shot for AA status.
