And that could realistically happen.

Just not much for 'should wins' this year, and ISU's all over the map as far as what they're capable of. One of those years where what's happened in past years like last second shots falling just hasn't happened...thinking games like OSU in '14 or AT OSU in '14 and their last shot NOT falling.

If they pull it off tonight I'll obviously be more confident...but I was feeling OK about the team heading into last weekend so who knows what will happen.

It's exciting, so there's that.

I don't think it will

You realize the 17 wins isn't a big deal considering we only played 12 non conference games. Computers love us. I think we go 10-8 anyways so I'm not going to sweat it

Last time a team with 18 or fewer wins made the tourney was 2008. I'd bet really good money 17 wouldn't get us in.

No. Weird, a senior led group with loads of experience and this is the stinker of a season they end on. Not good.
At least we have wrestling...wait.

My optimism has waned a bit with a very similar game to Saturday, and very similar to anything early in the season. I think the answer is No unless they pull 5 out of somewhere.

I don't understand how that's going to happen...they don't even look confident in what they're doing in Hilton.

when we lost to Iowa bad you could tell this was an NIT team. We just play so stupid over 40 minutes.

somehow I feel like we are getting worse As the season is going on not better.

And I've seen enough of Burton for the year.

Congrats seniors. Way to underperform.

Not sure it's underperforming. I just think, as fans, we probably expected too much from this group. There's just not play makers, nothing wrong with that, but you can't have a distributing point guard surrounded by role players.

After Saturday we will have to win five of our last eight. Not impossible certainly but absolutely no margin for error.

I think we will squeak into the tourney somehow. What I don't get is how did Lunardi have us as a 7 seed? He'll probably bump us down to a 9 after tonight. That's still too generous.

I agree. This year is a lot different with Georges and Nader back. Just one would do.

Unfortunately we don't have a large margin for error. Against a very good team like WVU we can't afford to have normal ebb and flow- we must be always be "on".

If you look at his in season brackets throughout the years they are all just random guesses, his final one is the only one that he actually spends a lot of time on, and you'll see teams move 2 or even 3 spots for that final bracket. That's why the bracket matrix is more valuable, it's still just guesses, but when you average them all out it's at least a more reasonable prediction.

Im voting no at this point, I was holding out hope that we would actually beat a good team like West Virginia and that would get us in. There is no way we are beating Baylor at home, and we have 2 more automatic road losses.

Some people here follow Lunardi in January like it's a bible

I don't see it happening. I see 3 losses right off the bat with @KU, @WVU and Baylor. That still leaves @KSU and @Tech as high probability losses as well.

17 wins for us is pretty much 18. We played one less non conference game than pretty much every team

I'm still hopeful for 17 wins...but I can't ever remember being so disheartened after an Iowa State performance. In part because I think the team was playing with a lot of effort. Interested in your opinion on going back to the zone after the 9:00 timeout?

Also, don't we just have to play Solomon Young at this point even if he has some significant issues with pick & roll defense.

This is the most frustrating loss I can remember. West Virginia is really good but to get pushed around at home is just not fun to watch
