Elite 8 and a loss to Michigan would’ve been okay. We never make it out of the sweet 16. We’re statistically the worst team in the sweet 16.

Tennessee is a bad matchup for us even with J Jeff. Single elimination tourney is all about matchups. I was really hoping we could get by TN as I loved our matchup against Michigan, with or without J Jeff.
This is 5 times since 2014 if you count the pros. Niang 2014, Gilbert 2025, JJeff 2026, Purdy NFC championship game, Halliburton game 7 NBA finals. It does seem like we are cursed.

I guess if there's any silver lining, no way TJ would even consider leaving on this note. No way Milan is drafted in the NBA 1st round, so he's certain to return. Those are two positives for next year, at least. Always next year....
I took that approach after NIL and the gambling sting got us. It's been liberating. I didn't even know Campbell was in danger of leaving until after it happened. I still don't know who the FB coach is and I literally don't care because I've accepted ISU FB doesn't compete under the current NCAA rules when it comes to NIL and infinite transfers.

Injuries happen. Match-ups are what make the NCAA tournament so great. It was a fantastic season, IMHO.
My only beef with Otz is that I don't know how fundamentally sound Xs and Os he is. Yes he is a culture guy, yes he gets his players to buy in and seems to bring the right guys in to run his system, but I'm not sure what we're getting from him in critical in game moments. It seems like he leaves it up to his assistants which seems kind of lame. But that's my only beef with him.

Get Milan back, keep Toure, Batemon and at least one of Buchanan/Pleta and we'll have a squad capable of getting back to this point again, see if our luck can change.
