Why Isn't Cooke Playing

I think it just goes back to the fact that Prohm doesn't really have a plan or idea of how to play this team. Cooke has earned more minutes from my perspective. He's a solid defender and he doesn't make bad decisions. I'd like to see him play the minutes Ashton is getting. No part of Ashton's game has impressed me. When he's on the court we have to play 4 vs. 5 on the offensive end.

Wouldn't say he's a 'solid' defender. Has to really work to stay with his guy and gets fouls easily. Guess I'm going by a few games tho, so maybe not valid. Yet CW has said the same on his podcasts that the team/staff trusts Ashton's game a little more. Did I hear him wrong? But guessing/hoping we see Cooke play more today if he's earning it in practice.

Bottom line? You're not the coach. Thankfully.

At least you have a plan or idea of how to play this team.

Part of me wonder is Ashton has as much green light on offense as other players. It's pretty safe and fair to assume he doesn't, which is why it looks like he does nothing in the box score. When he plays, he is solid-not great-on D, he hustles to loose balls, and on offense is really nothing more than a body to rotate the ball around the perimeter with. I would love to see him start making, let alone taking, shots. He shot the ball really well at Kirkwood, so you know he has the ability to stroke it.

That said, Hallice Cooke has clearly been set back by his hip surgery. Will he ever be that player he was is FR. year at Oregon State? Nobody knows, but the expectations set upon him when he signed and even after his injury were certainly unfair for him to live up to.
