Why does Wally get a pass from most posters

If our defense would have played with Baylor's offense on Saturday, we would have won by 60. Wally is not the problem and I sincerely hope he stays next year. You can't be a coach for as long as he has and have this catastrophic season by your last. He deserves more than that and I think he'll get it next year. Wally is the man.

If it makes OP feel better, the rumor is pretty strong that Wally is retiring at the end of the year.

People can continue to blame coaches on both side of the ball if they want to, but as long as you get poor line play from both units, ISU football is going to be bad, and there are lots of reasons for that that go far beyond the playcalling or game planning.

Wally has done what he could to maximize the talent that he has. On the other hand Mess has done nothing with the talent he has. Thats why Mess is always under fire and Wally is not. But yes the defense has been bad too.
