How far do you have Iowa State going?
What about all other Big 12 teams?
Any big upsets?

While I think Wisconsin/Arkansas/Nebraska/Vandy/Texas Tech/Alabama all could get upset...I can't get myself to actually pick them to lose. I do think Nebraska and Tech are the most likely to get upset of those though. So my biggest upsets are only 11/6 with South Florida over Louisville and VCU over UNC.

Big 12:
  • TCU loses to Duke in OT in round of 32
  • Kansas loses to Duke in S16
  • UCF loses to UCONN in round of 32
  • Houston loses to Florida in Elita 8
  • BYU loses to Purdue in Sweet 16
  • Texas Tech loses to Arkansas in round of 32
  • Arizona wins natty (but I was so close to picking them to lose to Arkansas)
  • Iowa State loses to AZ in FF (brutal i know)
Final Four:
  • Duke
  • Florida
  • Arizona
  • Iowa State

I haven't filled out a bracket yet but I bet on BYU to make S16, E8, and F4 cause I liked the value. I like them to at least make the S16 but it's tough for me to pick against the team that will always have the best player on the court

So if you're the gambling type, bet on whoever wins tonight between NC State/Texas

My problem with BYU this year is no supporting cast for Dybansta once Saunders went down. Hard for 1 dude to carry the team for that many games...

I'm debating whether or not to pick St Johns over Duke. I was impressed with how they looked when we played them, and they've got to be pissed they got a 5 seed while UConn gets a 2 in the same region.

Last time I went with the "they looked good when we played them" instinct was UConn in 2023. Only one to pick them in our pool and ended up winning. (Not picking SJ to win it all or even to go to the F4).

Also, picking Houston over Florida in the E8. Thought I'd pick Florida to the Final 4 before brackets were announced, but with the game in Houston, UH gets their revenge.

Here are my elite 8 games. All chalk outside of Mich State as the 3 seed. I have ZERO trust in Uconn. They played close games all year against inferior opponents and had horrid losses to Creighton and Marquette. They also likely get UCLA in the second round who is one of the hottest teams in basketball. Uconns path to the Final 4 likely being Round 1/UCLA/Mich State/Duke. Brutal! HOF coaches and blue blood rosters. I just don't see it whatsoever.

What a Saturday/Sunday of basketball it would be if this plays out.

East: Mich State/Duke
South: Houston/Florida
East: Purdue/Arizona
Midwest: Iowa State/Mich

Final Four: Duke, Houston, Zona, Iowa State

***In the south people are overlooking the fact that regional is in Houston. Enormous advantage. Sampson going to have them playing with their hair on fire.

National Title: Arizona over Duke

I'm really struggling with my picks. It seems like anymore I feel very very chalky is what will happen, but at the same time don't feel great about some teams. For example I really don't trust Duke, but I still think they are one of the best teams. Haven't liked UConn all year, but have a hard time picking against them.

I picked three 1 seeds and a 2 seed in the Final Four, with a 1 and a 2 playing in the title game. And it's eliciting laughing emojis. What am I missing?

Not sure but maybe they think UCONN is a strange pick to go that far? I don't have them going far...but they could and I doubt many have them in the title game. So you could look like a genius. Which is why I might change a pick. Need to mull it over. Something is nagging me that Acuff could go off and Ark beats AZ.

I watched St. John’s a few weeks ago and couldn’t believe how physical they are, except really it just jogged my memory of Iowa State’s game against them, which was a slugfest. They’re 19-1 in their last 20 I think? With two wins over UConn. Duke is plenty tough, and much better offensively, but I wonder if Duke being down its PG will be their undoing against a suffocating defense

East: Duke over Michigan State
South: Florida over Houston

National Champion: Michigan over Duke

I laughed because I think a UConn vs Michigan title game is picking two of the top teams that haven’t looked as good down the stretch. Just seems a bit more unlikely than say a Florida/houston vs Arizona title game

I said after playing them St Johns frontcourt would be the best we'd see all year. That trio they have are all grown ass men. Their frontcourt is right up there with Arizona and Florida.

I went all chalk for one of my brackets, except Arizona over overall #1 Duke for the title.
My other bracket's Final Four is Arizona, Houston, Iowa State, and Michigan State, with the Cyclones avenging 2000 and beating MSU for the title.

The BigXII in my non-chalk bracket:
TCU upsets Ohio St and Duke and loses to Kansas in the Sweet 16
UCF upsets UCLA and UConn and loses to Michigan St in the Sweet 16
Texas Tech to the round of 32
BYU upsets Gonzaga and Purdue and loses to Arizona in the Elite 8

Other upsets:
UNI over St. John's
USF over Louisville
Troy over Nebraska
VCU over UNC
Texas A&M over Saint Mary's
Missouri over Miami (FL)
Utah St over Villanova
Vandy over Florida
