Yeah I don't seek articles about KSU because I could not care less. I'm going off what you said where you mentioned that a bunch of players, who were out with COVID, were standing on the sideline. Sep 13, 2020 @surly

So, I don't know what you relish about Snyder's approach other than the results.

During Snyder1.0, his defenses were nasty and aggressive. I'll give you that. But his second term, he played "soft" as he adjusted to spread offenses. And that didn't sit well with fans.

You almost have to take this approach in the Big 12 unless you want to routinely give up 50+ ppg by being too aggressive. I feel like OU has traditionally and still today played an aggressive style of defense, and that is why they give up so many points. Bend but don't break defenses give up a ton of yards, but can at least keep the scoring manageable (most of the time). With the air raid and spread offenses of the Big 12, it is beneficial to play "soft". Even though it has created the nasty stigma that fans of all Big 12 schools despise so much

It will be interesting to watch Mike Leach in the SEC for the very reason you point out here.
 
Well, Mike Leach obviously has ponies now, the way they blasted LSU and Bo Pelini's defense was pretty telling.

My sense has always been that these air raid type attacks couldn't handle great defenses. OU's CFP performance being evidence of that.

Part of my rationale has been that programs like OU spend so much energy on offense that they don't do defense well enough to win at the elite level.

Yeah, there may be an adjustment period as the SEC has to figure out to counter a Leach team, but will he have the caliber of athletes to sustain that when the SEC figures out the scheme?

Leach's program at Tech was Example A of that. It was like Leach really didn't even care if he had a defense. I know you love your offense but you are going to have to stop somebody at least once in a while.

No different at Washington State where Washington owned him with solid defense.


The common denominator in Washington State’s seven consecutive losses to Washington — none of which have been closer than 10 points — is head coach Mike Leach. Or perhaps more appropriately, Mike Leash. Because that’s what Chris Petersen has around his neck.

The Washington coaching staff owns this man, pure and simple. Regardless of the Cougars’ record or weapons coming into the Apple Cup, they wilt like petunias when they line up against UW.

One wrong ATS and one wrong straight-up.

If I keep this up for the rest of the season, I might bring up my record to "below mediocre"
