What's Bugging Andy

It would only take assistant football coach money. There should be no reason why wrestling coach isn't making around the same as our highest assistant football coach salary.

Go bring Cael back!!

or drop wrestling.

You're like the CF version of a Monday right now.

If those are our 2 options, wrestling is gone cause Cael ain't coming back.

I find it interesting that media people who set foot in Hilton for wrestling maybe once every two years (when the Hawks come to town, naturally) all of a sudden have these hot takes on what Iowa State/Pollard should do when it comes to the wrestling coaching search and the program in general.

There are million$$ of reason why this isn't the case.

get a hockey team, though people will only care for a year or two until the "new sport" rub wears off.

I'm kidding, that's stupid.
Actually Iowa State has one of the strongest club hockey teams in the nation. We held the #1 ranking for a while and was runner up last year. I didn't follow too much this year but the arena is packed. ISU also holds the titles of first club hockey game to be shown on espn3. Huge honor for us.

I think we could make hockey work here tbh. I'm from Minnesota and we produce a ton of D1 hockey talent. My high school had about 4 kids thats all play for Duluth, Ohio state, penn state, and michigan. It would be like if we sat next to Texas for football.

Penn State was a club school like us until a few seasons ago and now they are one of the top club teams in the nation. Plus if the Big12 ever feel about the Big ten has expressed huge interest in expanding their hockey conference.

If you can raise money for a new softball complex and tennis complex then you can raise the money for a wrestling complex. Heck put it with volleyball and'/or gymnastics. If it takes an extra $100K or $200K to get an elite coach I am sure they can find that money someplace in the budget. There is no reason for ISU to be this bad in wrestling.

Something like Minnesota has is what I always think would be good for our wrestling, volleyball and gymnastic teams

Minnesota (Sports Pavilion) and Nebraska (Coliseum) were able to repurpose existing buildings into comfortable-sized venues for those Olympic sports. The Armory would have been similar to those, in many ways. But that ship has long since sailed. To build something new like that would be crazy expensive -- and where do you put it?

Pollard needs to go all in for a wrestling coach, consider these facts for a minute:

First Collegiate team to 1000 dual wins
8 National Team Championships
69 individual National Championships
294 All Americans
17 Conference Championships, (a lot of these when Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were national powers)

We have had success in wrestling and we can do it again. Iowa is a hot bed for high school wrestling and there are many athletes right in our own back yard.

That would be so sweet. Sitting in Hilton for wrestling reminds me of going to an ISU basketball game in the UNI Dome. All that empty space takes away from the atmosphere and excitement.

Dear JP,

If you're thinking about spending big on a wrestling coach. Take that extra money and give it to Matt Campbell and his staff.

Sincerely,

Sports people care about
Wrestling suck, just a bunch of dudes rubbing each others butts, WTF? I agree, drop this immoral "sport" and give the money Prohm and Campbell. Speaking of Prohm, I take my words back, you don't suck after all..atleast this week. Good win at KU.

I'd be upset by this but nobody here has ever taken your opinion about anything seriously so you go ahead and keeping doing you.

Thanks for not being upset, life is short, can't get mad at what other people think or you would be a sad person. :)

I like college hockey and I watch the Gophers all the time. I would LOVE for ISU to go D1 in hockey but my sense is that it would be a GIGANTIC $$$ investement and one that we could give a fraction of to the wrestling team to make it a top 1-5 team again.

I heard that UI is going D1 in hockey in the next couple years, anyone else hear that?
