Milan is one of the best college 3 pt shooters ever. 55% on his volume from today’s distance. Name a better one. He needs to be firing from the start of every game. If he can’t get a good look pass it and then get it back to him. Try or 3 or 4 times a possession if needed. Eventually, he’ll get a decent look.

He's not gonna be hot every night though. You gotta have guys who can take the ball to the hoop. You'll either make it, miss it, get fouled, or kick it out to an open man. That's something good happening well over 50% of the time. Who can do that for us? I think Toure can(at least better than anyone in the backcourt) and sometimes Jefferson. A guy like that stops long runs from the opponent.

I’m saying start the game with that and hopefully open up the lane for guys to attack, instead of trying to attack first.

I don't think they should try and force anything. They need to find a long term strategy. Everything needs to start with dribble drive. That's gets Milan open too

Let Toure play PG and let him slash. Tamin can play 2 and let him play on the perimeter more. I said Tamin's inability to go to the hoop was an issue a month ago and everyone flipped out on me.
Toure is starting to get the Tamin freshman treatment. Teams sagging off and daring him to shoot.

hard to get into the lane like that.

We rely on running a NBA “find the mismatch and run ISO” offense way too much. It’s pathetic, sad, and honestly what’s most alarming is that idk if our coaches will do a damn thing about it….

Call me crazy but I really don’t think we’d be talking about offensive strategy if they stopped fr****** handing the other team the ball for the first 10:00 of the game. You’re just never going to get in any rhythm that way, including on defense because you’re running back on breaks so often

Fair but handing the team the other ball is a byproduct of bad offense…..

No killer instincts, no leadership, we’re extremely easy to game plan for defensively and offensively. TJ refuses to make any adjustments to the above. If I have to watch Jefferson dribble into traffic and lose the ball one more time I’m gonna lose it lol
This. The offense cannot run through Jefferson when he is playing this poorly. I recognize he could clean it up and be awesome next week. But he is a walking turnover machine as of right now. When he dribbles teams immediately collapse on him, other teams aren't stupid scouting report wise.

Toure had 4 points and 3 turnovers today. That isn't even close to good enough for 22 mins a game. If he continues that we need some Jamarion Batemon.

I don’t think it is at the start of games. Jefferson can go iso for three or four seconds then kick the ball out. It’s when he tries to take on a double for half the shot clock that he gets picked. Lipsey can go hard to the rack without being totally out of control. Especially at Kansas the issue was he looked like he had no idea where anyone was when he drove, so if he faced resistance he either had to travel or force a bad shot. What I don’t get is the team gets the ball in the paint via post ups and drives then just implodes if there’s a defender to challenge. These pocket passes to the bigs will be more open when you start showing defenses you can swing it, Iowa State just refuses to do so right now

-Jefferson is a turnover machine

-Lipsey might not be 100%, which then begs the question once again why hes playing 30 minutes in December against sub-300 teams.

-Toure is zero offensive threat so teams only have to guard 4 guys

-Buchanan and Pleta are the worst 5's since TJ has been here. Buchanan is a turnstile on defense and can't make a free throw. Just a huge recruiting bust by the staff. Murder should have been able to spell them 5-10 minutes and is somehow worse

-Heise has gone right back into last year form, absolutely zero offensive threat, scared anytime he gets to the rim and scared to shoot.

-Batemon and Nelson dont play enough

Other than those problems everything else is fine.

Batemon is a better offensive threat than Toure who is really raw offensively.

They overachieved in the pre-conference season more than we ever could have imagined and they don't have much depth so when the starters aren't shooting well it's going to be a tough time. I still think this is a good team but the hot start to the season set unrealistic expectations.
