Let's say Texas likes the Beebe Plan and says yes. Meanwhile A&M votes to go to the SEC. Does the conference hold together?

I'd imagine Texas only stays if aTm does.

Remember, we have to consider the possibility that Texas is only gambling to get their own network. If they can get that in the Big 12, even without A&M, they may be content to stay.

True, but would the Big 12 still get that $17 million tv contract even if aTm bolts? I mean, you can only lose so many big name teams before that offer goes out the window. And the Texas market is a big part of that contract, with the second biggest school in Texas leaving, I doubt it the contract stays that high.

Who knows... texas and everyone else may actually make more if TAMU leaves, since the tv footprint really wouldnt shrink, and while ratings would be affected, would that be worth greater than their 17 or so million share? (for instance, if the contract was now worth 160mil instead of 170, the rest would now make 17.7 mil instead of 17.

I'm not a television executive though, so i have no idea what their numbers would be on this. It could easily be less.

But with Texas, Baylor, TCU, and Texas Tech in the conference, the Dallas and San Antonio markets are secured, and Tech can deliver west Texas. The TV footprint wouldn't shrink too much, if at all.
