If McKay just skipped class or something small like that I see only one logical reason for Prohm to keep it hidden. Prohm is testing McKay to see if he slips up on Twitter or tells someone who will inform the press. McKay needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and Twitter feed bare.

This guy is on to something.

Haha there must be a lot of dudes who have used prostitutes in this thread based on all the Birch supporters.

Fran Fraschilla:

Not sure what's up at Iowa State but Jameel McKay was dressed for TCU game but was DNP. Getting late in season to "send messages."

Let me get this straight...you believe you deserve a response to a question?

My perspective: I'm 53 years old and graduated from ISU in 1985. I was attending ISU basketball games before Steve Prohm was born. My eldest is a Senior at ISU this year.

People on CF continue to repeat that it's Steve Prohm's program and he says he's "building a program", which evidently justifies his actions in his mind. No and No. It's not your program CSP, you're simply a well-compensated custodian of a program that was already well-established long before you arrived. The program belongs to the university and the fans!

In this thread, I'm seeing people comment that Coach K, Pitino and Izzo wouldn't comment regarding a "coach's decision". Are you really comparing Steve Prohm to these three giants of the game? He hasn't even remotely earned that right.

In conclusion, I'm not throwing Steve Prohm under the bus and I'm hopeful his tenure at ISU will be lengthy and successful. Having said that, he obviously doesn't have all the answers and has underachieved with THIS team to this point in the season. He doesn't get a free pass and is answerable to the stockholders...

If I am ever in need of a good laugh, coming here is usually the answer. This place is pure comedy. Some of the posters should probably be in a mental institution for some of the things they say. And to the guy who needed to throw his age around, congratulations! You, like thousands on here, went to Iowa State. I graduated from Iowa State too, but Prohm can do as he pleases, because this IS his program right now. I do not feel I am owed anything because of where I went to school.

Any time someone says "I'm not throwing X under the bus..." you KNOW what follows is them throwing X under the bus...

Congratulations iccyfan for your long Cyclone fandom. (Mine is longer so there) But, you are wrong. Continue about your day.

Prohm is drawing negative attention by not saying what happened. Don't care if he suspended him for something but Prohm has handled it poorly

This guy gets it.

it's starting to feel like Prohm is the step-farther timidly trying to discipline kids...

right. The sports media in this state is very entitled. Chris included.

I also think the "media" wears multiple hats in their roles and benefit from "drama" types of stories. Murph/Andy, Ross/Chris, Heather/Travis need to fill their air time with "stuff" and I'd say it leans on entertainment and not news, but some of those folks wear other hats that are news...and they have media folks on their shows...and tweet/post about hanging out together.

I think Chris is in a unique position....sometimes he is representing a business (CF) in his role, sometimes he's calling basketball games for ISU, sometimes he's on KXNO, sometimes info is on his twitter account (and this is true for the other media folks)....things have changed for the media and it can be confusing for fans and probably for the media.

Should have Prohm come out and said (this is just an example), "Jameel didn't play tonight because he didn't pick up his wet towels in the locker room and when asked to he walked away."? Maybe....he'd maybe get less questions...or more "does any player that doesn't pick up their towel not get to play?" And the local media typically errors on not being "pressing" because they don't want to get in the doghouse with ISU media relations, so it seems they error on some softer questions and then a week worth of speculation on their shows/posts, etc.

Hahaha not a single transfer on the team was kicked off or arrested at previous school.

Bryce Dejan Jones was dismissed from USC and UNLV and forced to transfer. Nader was arrested at Northern Illinois and suspended for 6 games, benched and then encouraged to transfer. He then got the OWI here and had minor involvement in that whole Dejan Jones apartment mess with the marijuana involvement.

McKay and Burton quit during the season on their previous team.

If we are going to welcome talented headcase transfers, then when something finally goes wrong with them you can't pretend as if they were great citizens or didn't have problems before. McKay acting like this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

sorry, but if Coach K and Izzo would do something, chances are its the right thing to do, whether you're a 20 year veteran coach or in your first major job.

The point is, this is bigger than McKay, or even this year. The rest of the team is playing hard and seems to have bought in. If the players thought McKay was being wronged by Prohm there would likely be some rumblings.

It may be something minor and even partially knee related. Why give Huggins additional info to make game planning easier when you don't have to?

Fred ran an undisciplined program. That is why guys like Royce White loved Fred, because he let them do whatever they want. Jameel thinks he can continue to do whatever he wants and disrupt the team, without consequences. Whatever Prohm has to do to keep sending that message, I completely support. These games are meaningless at this point. The only thing that matters is March. I think every decision Prohm is making, is him just keeping an eye on prize and long term success of the team.

Great post. When I read Twitter of these guys they constantly joke/talk with one another. I don't see this with the sports guys in minnesota (for example) who comment on the games but not a lot of the fluff.
