What are you afraid of?

1. Please explain what a member if the "media" is. You put the word in quotes, so it seems this is a gray area. Apparently anyone with a blog? We have people on this board who run blogs and brag about talking with recruits.

2. As far as no one other than a coach "encouraging" a prospect to attend a particular school, please explain how thousands of fans can chant to Harrison Barnes things like "Harrison Barnes, Duke is home!" at Cameron Indoor, and similiar chants to him at UNC ("Harrison Barnes, we want YOU!") and even Hilton???

You do realize that ISU is just enforcing NCAA rules, right? Why be belligerent about it to the university? Take it up with the NCAA.

#2 is technically a violation, although it is rarely, if ever, enforced.

Oh please - I am asking for clarification on what constitues the "media," and what consititues "encouragement" from fans towards recruits. If, as you said, ISU is in charge of enforcement, then I would think they would have the clear definitions for me. To label my questions as belligerent is a bit odd...

It would be odd, yes, if you hadn't been very clear in the past about your dislike of the athletic department, and posted that on the heels of such displays. All you have to do is a bit of googling to know that there are NCAA regulations, but that they're up to the universities to enforce - it's not like I'm making that up. I'm sure ISU could certainly get you definitions if you contacted them directly, just as I'm sure you could find the NCAA regulations on their website through your own research.

ISU is just trying to keep from receiving penalties by enforcing the rules. It's not like we haven't been bitten by them in a manner that seems unjust several times over the past few years (see Jiri, Lucca, Gilstrap, etc.). They're not being strict just to be strict.
