Weight changes for FB roster

Interesting. It looks like Mattison is backing up Knott.

And according to Rhoads Morgan is being groomed for that Hybrid spot.

Looking down the line a couple of years the LB might not be big but they'll be fast.

Lattimer has to get on the field this year. With Nelson's apparent lack of development(neing the #3 LE is not promising), we would be stuck with Neal and Maggitt. I like what Stephen Neal has given to our program, but he will not win us any games

Nelson is the #3 LE because he hasn't done anything yet, most the time you don't list players with any experiance ahead of players with reps. I hope he jumps ahead.
Coaches and players said he looked good last year. Lets hope he gets healthy and he can add some pass rush for our DL.

What he came from (refresher):

Started two years for the Yuba 49ers under coach Ted Hoal ... led the California Community College Athletic Association in sacks with 16.5 in 2009 ... also led the CCCAA in tackles for loss with 24.5 ... Region I All-California First-Team Defense in 2009 ... two-time Bay Valley all-conference selection ... recorded 11 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss as a freshman, also forced two-fumbles.
High School: Earned All-Dade County honorable mention as a senior ... collected 103 tackles with eight sacks in his senior campaign ... coach at Miami-Jackson was John Harris.

Don't forget, Nelson is coming off a surgery as well, which will limit his practice time. He'll probably be limited in the spring & summer, but hopefully will be ready to go by fall.

I can anyone cite "lack of development" regarding Nelson. That's crazy. He sat out last year and hasn't yet seen a spring practice...so how in the he!! would anyone know how he's developed. As mentioned above, being 3rd on the depth chart simply reflects that they are starting him there because he's never seen the field...and those above him have. He'll be fighting for a number one slot by the end of spring,

I do like the idea of considering moving Miller to the inside. The kid is 6'4 and nearly 240 already. Give the kid an RS this year...and he likely rolls into 2012 as a 260+ Defensive End with a GREAT motor and superb athleticism. I like that potential...perhaps he's just too good to move from the LB slot, but its an interesting idea.
