Weekly Team Rankings

Didn’t somebody have us at #3? Where did that come from?

That was with Gomez ranked 7th at 133. Right now, there is no 133 ranked for Iowa State which hurt our team rankings. I do think our 133 will end up ranked in the 14-20 range (whether that is Redding or Small) by the end of the year. I also think Flo having Broderson at 13 right now is probably a little optimistic. Broderson very well could be ranked 13th or better by the end of the year, but right now that is a little high. Rest of the rankings look pretty accurate to me.

Who did he beat last year in opens to support that high of ranking at 74? I know he had some nice wins but I just can’t remember who they were

He beat Abe Assad and had a couple other really nice wins I know. I think a top 20 ranking is warranted, and the Briggs loss really isn't that bad this early, but 13 is pretty high. He has the potential to be a top 12 guy by end of the season, but right now I'd have him in the 18-20 range.

I kind of thought the same thing. I love our team this year but top 3, even with Gomez, seems more than a little generous.

It was tied with two other teams, so it would’ve been anywhere between 3-5, but I still agree with you.

Good thing about wrestling is that somehow someway, things work themselves out in the end.

Just glad to have wrestling back!
