AP and Coaches out yesterday. ISU #24 in coaches. #27 in AP. Little surprised at that. Not surprised to be receiving votes but thought we would be down the line a bit more. Baylor and Texas are the only Big 12 teams ranked in both polls. West Virginia getting enough ORV to almost crack the Top 25.

Was also a little surprised to Gophers ranked in AP. They do like Whalen though.

I wasn't overly impressed with last night's performance but not untypical of early season games with a lot of new cast members. So, I was surprised to hear of this rating. Bottom line, let's make it happen!

Also, Bill treats exhibition games like he should. It is an opportunity to try combinations out and give players on the bubble for playing time a healthy dose to show what they've got.

Also consider that one of ISU's top 3 scorers is in the medical ward and didn't play.

Plus an undersized and way over matched Div II opponent. I watched and came away with almost zero takeaways. For me pretty much limited to (1) fun to see Espenmiller-McGraw finally after being committed for what seems like 10 years (2) steady no turnovers Johnson, still the only person on the team that can feed the post. Post feeds mostly resulted in TO's last night both the fault of guards and posts (bad passes and bad hands). Reserving any thoughts/comments on Thurmond, she was playing against the same JC level talent she excelled against in JC.

The huge takeaway for me is ISU will be able to score. Both Maddie and Ashley looked improved. Maggie looked awesome for a frosh who has missed a ton of practice. Her body control is that of upperclassman, her defense though is poor. Going to be very hard to defend ISU this year with MEM, Ashley, AD, Wise, and Scott on the floor together. And we have different looks to come off the bench, not just backups,m with Jade and Ines.

If ISU can handle the ball better, I'm optimistic.

Killing time waiting for that 11:00 Tuesday tipoff so looked up polls.

Super early but Week #3 poll has only Baylor and West Virginia ranked from Big 12 with WVU squeaking in at #24. Texas dropped out. ORV (regional or played recently), Minnesota, Drake, Mizzu State, South Dakota. No ISU or Iowa. Iowa got drilled by UNI.

Minnesota is 1-1 against 2019 Sweet Sixteen teams so far. Lost to Missouri State and than soundly defeated Arizona State, dropping ASU from the ranked teams. Might have to pop over to Williams Arena when they play Iowa. Do not think the Hawk guards will be able to stay in front of the Gopher guards. They got some speed and quickness Iowa doesn't have.
