Sorry I got my Dakotas mixed up there really should just be Dakota as not much difference between them.
About the Dakotas...

My wife and I are in the process of visiting all 50 state capitols. In my research, I have learned the history of many of our states. One reason the Dakota Territory was split was that the Republicans gained four senators (rather than two) in Washington when the two states were created. But two regions of this huge land mass were actually functioning somewhat independently at the time statehood was granted.

North Dakota was still "wild country" in the 1880s and had established trade routes mainly with Minneapolis and St Paul. South Dakota considered themselves much more civilized and generally traded along the Missouri River to Kansas City and St. Louis.

Sorry for history lecture.

Circa 1990, I lived in MN and the Dakotas were part of my work territory. I drove to Pierre one January and didn’t see another car after exiting I90 and heading north on the narrow two-lane highway. I commented to a friend that if my car slid off the elevated road surface, I probably wouldn’t be found until Spring! Note - Pre Cell Phone times! My friend said there were missile silos on both sides of the highway, easily identified by their fence enclosures. You walk to the fence, shake it vigorously and an army vehicle would arrive to rescue you within fifteen minutes! To this day, I wonder if that is true or he was just giving me the business?

Yeah…full of minuteman missiles if I remember correctly.

I have a similar experience, but Pierre is virtually a traffic jam compared to I-94 in the middle of North Dakota. Exit signs all say "No Services".

Heard the story why the Dakotas (and Montana) were full of those missiles because the distance from Moscow was equal from the east side and the west side from these locations..

Think the reason was more because fewer people would be vaporized if the Russkies tried to take out our missiles.

Just saw that top 100 shooting guard and 2023 WV commit Grace Grocholski from Wisconsin decommitted due to their coaching change. Would Iowa State have interest?

Don't see ISU adding a sixth freshman in the class.

Probably Minnesota bound if Coach P still wants her and I'd think she might owe her an offer.

Why not we are missing a guard.

We need to get older. Not sure how we can do in the portal, but it very much needs to be good to us. I currently expect a rough year next year.

I don’t. The Big 12 gains four teams that should be wins in conference. OU and Baylor will both be down. OU at least will be very young like ISU. We still have some high level talent on the court. The Fab freshmen will be fun to watch as they bring in the new face of the Twister Sisters.

Hope you are correct.
Maybe the competition is poor enough to afford us some wins. The freshman should be fun to watch, a pretty highly regarded group. I worry that we are still not recruiting adequate quickness and athleticism to compete with the best teams.
Without portal help I fail to see how we are not significantly worse than this year. The freshman better be battle ready.

Arianna Jackson is reportedly very quick and I would argue that Fritz is, if not quick, then at least fast. I saw her run past two Baylor guards and beat them to the basket by three steps. Donarski was also one of the faster WBB players we've had in a while. She was a state qualifier in the 100 meters, where she took fifth as a junior.

Outside of Iowa and Texas who will we play that will be ranked? KSU might be by league time. Thinking we will be "okay" if for no other reason than the league looks to be bad. Not good but okay.

We did opt for one of those summer tours which will give the freshman a handful of practices and some team bonding. Can't hurt come later in the fall.

We have not been QUICK enough to guard on defense, or create off the bounce. We had (have?) no shot creators. This is a recruiting issue. Hopefully it has been fixed with this class. Not certain.

Hope Jackson is what you say - much needed.
