Several Interviews here! Had a good chat with Metcalf.

Super excited for this season's freshman! I'm excited to get to work. It's my sixth season just like KD coaching! It's insane how far I've come. As Metcalf said about the team, I've come so far but definitely still plenty of room for growth! Thanks for all the continued support.

S/O to Connor who came with me to do all my videos for me. I'll have a takeaways piece tomorrow!

Swiderski is very confident and wrestling is a very humbling sport (for me anyway). I'm starting to get pretty hyped to see him prove it.

If y’all remember that media day last year when somebody asked KD about Yonger and his progress and he just had a very sneaky looking smile and said something like “we’ll see” and didn’t really answer the question because he knew he wouldn’t need to? About to get 6 or 7 weeks ago, I saw Dresser and point blank asked him “so is this Swiderski kid as good as advertised?” He had that same shiteating grin and slowly nodded and said “yeah”.

I think we are in for a treat.

I do remember that, it gave me warm and fuzzies

KD calls him a “little savage”.
Just listening to Casey's press conference, and watching some of his matches, he definitely has some "savage" to him. Too early to tell, but he seems like he has the same drive that Metcalf had in college. Would love it if he had a similar career as well

Interesting to me that, when talking about guys stepping up, Dresser specifically mentions Terukina, Ramazan and Redding. Seems almost everyone here has been writing one of those guys off for a while now. Where would Redding fit in, assuming he absolutely can’t make 133 work and Swiderski is a lock at 141? 149 is a pretty big leap isn’t it, and Pinero is there too.

Just something that got me thinking.

EDIT: I see this is discussed a little in the Broderson and Johnson thread. Interesting place for that, but oh well.

I don’t think I’ve been overly critical of Redding before. Actually I like him a lot. That said, I think he will be a huge 33 and hope that he’s not a shell of himself down there. If he can make the cut and perform, he’ll be tough.

Yeah…I could have said that better, I think. “Critical” isn’t really what I was going for. I was more talking about how folks didn’t think he’d ever get to 133 again and there wouldn’t be a spot for him at the higher weights he could get to (ie 141, 149). Because people didn’t think he could make 133 and 141/149 seemed/seem like long shots, many didn’t know if he would see the lineup.

I have been on record stating I thought he could get down to 33 again and needed to do it to make the lineup.....even more so now than last year with Swiderski in the spot over Parker. Compared to Ramazan, his standup offense is better, his top game is better and they both need improvement on bottom. Ramazan probably has more grit with an in your face mentality, but he sits in a russian on his feet and seems content there. Give me someone who is looking to score and put up points, which Redding does.

I think everyone likes Redding and wants to see him in the lineup. All I was saying is that not many thought a cut to 133 was feasible for him, with some saying he may not be even willing to try it. It was a heavy topic of conversation all of last season.

Redding or Ramazan. I feel fine with whoever wins that battle. Both a primed to take a big step.

I think there was some speculation last season that Redding maybe wasn't as committed to doing the right things on and off the mat to succeed. It sounds like he may have righted the ship in that respect.

I'm really excited to see how everything shakes out on all fronts this season!

If he makes it down to 33 and does it in way that gives him enough juice to knock out Ramazan, it would certainly seem like he righted anything off the mat that was maybe getting in his way.
