Very, VERY Confusing Play Calling Tonight

Decided to rewatch the Maryland v Texas game and man it just creates more questions. Maryland ran the ball down their throats for the first touchdown. Lots of two back sets (something we had last year and seem to have burned the play). Sweep outside left for 4-5, sweep right for 5-6. Same wide receiver screen that we run and worked well. Then QB option right where the QB took it to the house but not really in our ability with Park.
I really think if Maryland played Texas right now it would be totally different. Some teams have very bad games under 1st year coach.

With or without their starting QB? The Terps are down to the 3rd stringer

I still think that OU, OSU, and Texas Tech put up big numbers against Texas. Probably even WVU because they gamble so much deep.

After reading Jay Jones's article it leaves me to wonder if the problem with Manning is incompetence or hubris. The issues that Jay pointed are the same things I saw, though much more succinct and educated. If I'm seeing it then it's got to be quite obvious to the coaching staff.

I havent read through all the pages of the thread but is there an interview or something with manning/campbell about why we abandoned the run game?

He was actually doing well against the blitz until last night.
I agree, but I guess I won't be too hard on him. I'm most disappointed in Mannings playcalling. Really thought that made it near impossible for Park. I feel really confident we don't see a front 7 like that again this year at least.

Read this week's version of 'Sunday After' and the play calling is even more baffling...basically it shouldn't have mattered that the front 7 was that good because there was still plenty of openings in the defense had ISU worked to get to them.
