MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota is set for their fourth road trip in five weeks, as they will travel south to Cedar Falls, Iowa this weekend to participate in the UNI Open on Saturday, Dec. 11. The Gophers are expected to bring the majority of the roster to the event, with several grapplers competing unattached.

UNI Open should be a good one

That is 3-4 of Iowa’s starters next year. I’ll be interested to see where they’re at. A couple would be real threats to ISU’s current starters.

Tournaments for this year as well as duals are a big let down. The schedule needs a massive improvement in the next couple of years. Would love to see duals with Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, NC State, Cornell. Hoping they send a good amount to Midlands.
I agree this home schedule is complete crap. Like you said there are enough very competitive B1G schools close enough to do some home-and-home meets. Being a western IA guy put my name in and won the lottery on Purdue tickets so I will be going to that in Humbolt. Would love to go to Lincoln and wrestle Brasky every now again. I love buying season tickets but just couldn't justify the travel and time with this schedule.

Swafford is at Iowa?

That's because UNI has the worst administration on earth and I doesn't currently have an SID assigned to wrestling, just a student.

Pretty sure Michelle's back in that role, but that office seems like it's always understaffed.

Hey Mods, change the thread title to UNI Open. Please and Thank you.

I know coach said we wouldn't see many (any?) starters outside of 165, but I'd be curious to see Terukina v. Ayala and/or Ramazan v. Schriever.
I'll take Cabanban v. Ayala though. Cabanban handled Teske nicely at Daktronics.
If any of our 165s end up handling Kennedy, I'll be happy. Kennedy is pretty legit.

If any ISU 165 beats Kennedy, we should all be doing backflips because we’d have a title contender.

She is but she's doing MBB right now as they just hired someone to do it going forward.

She's awesome but she can't do 4 sports at a time.

Don't get your hopes up. I give it almost no chance Cabanban beats Ayala and zero that anyone beats Kennedy.

This is actually a great turnout for what I was expecting. Now I'm excited to follow. Brackets probably not posted until tomorrow morning?

I thought I heard Bennett left UNI because coaches were making him cut to 141 and he didn't want to wrestle there. That must have been wrong.

Per track, it's only 30 bucks to register. I might throw the old freestyle singlet on tomorrow and sign up! (Pretty sure my manboobs sticking out of the side like horses eyes might draw some attention, though. Been a few years since I've been back down at 125)

After weigh-ins, presumably. If the numbers hold, it averages out to 10-12 guys per weight.
