Uniform Question

It’ll be interesting to see the uniform for the first game of the CJR era, colors and helmet logo. Maybe gold pants and/or good helmets to signify the start of the new era. It might be cool to go with a solid color helmet with no logo at all to define the new beginning, and maybe as a subtle mocking of Penn State.

I don't get the black and white. It would be different if they used cardinal and gold somewhere in it. I liked the stripes on the shoulders this season. Id love to see some gold pants.

The good news for the black uniform hating crowd is CJR appears to be going for a samari sword clean cut off from the old regime. Like it's a limb with gangrene that must be removed before it spreads. Black uniforms was a CMC thing so it must be removed before it spreads.

Personally I couldn't care less what color our guys wear so long as they win. It'd be fine with me if they wore pants that are purple with pink polka dots, jerseys that are green and orange plaid, and a blue and brown stripped helmet. Just so long as they don't put the god awful I-State logo on them

The players and younger portion of the fanbase love the black uniforms, and it sells merchandise as well.

Personally I like our school colors, but red just doesn't work with my pasty complexion. Having lots of official merch in black means I'm buying much more merch. Black caps/clothing go with anything.

There is tradition there as well. Our original colors were black & silver & gold. Cardinal and gold became the colors largely because it was an easier/better dye process for the fabric of the time. So black unis are actually part of the historical record with football and not just a cool look that lots of teams are also doing these days.

Tear-away jerseys and no helmet logos. We are going back to the basics; smashmouth football. Let the Oregons and others wear their fancy outfits. (I feel like Cignetti probably has said a version of this, and he's doing alright)

You've got to be of a certain age to remember the good ol' tear-aways!

I always remember Earl Campbell for the Houston Oilers going through like 5 jerseys a game with those ridiculous things. He'd literally be running down field in his shoulder pads with no jersey.

I don't see the point in pushing that. Besides their blue is nearly black as it is. And breaking a tradition like that uniform is sacrilege.

I don't mind the blacks, but have to incorporate some cardinal and gold in them. Then, keep it to a game a year and do a blackout theme.

I’ve seen some PSU fans argue that they could use a black and pink throwback game. They have done it in other sports, so there is already a non-CMC precedent for it.

The bookstore still had a metric buttload of black gear when I was in there Saturday as well. I don't think it's going away.

I'd be happy to being done with the black uniforms. It always felt like we were 10 years late to the trend. I won't complain if we kept them but I think our cardinal uniforms and scripted cyclone cardinal helmets is the best look we have had in years.

I would even like to see a G-G-W or G-W-G uniform some time but I know the yellow can be a bit bright so it may need to be workshopped a bit.
