Time for another Molly Miller rebuilding job in Ames.

That’s for the write up. I hope this post doesn’t get overrun by people who usually never visit the women’s board. So we can discuss more calmly.

I personally think it would be best for the program to reset coaching wise now even if we lose Crooks. I fear if we don’t we’ll just have two years of total rebuilds rather than one.

Really well written @acoustimac your article really nicely summarizes this portal season.
My checkbook isn't big enough to change anything. Ride this thing out and see what we have next fall players and coaches both(I'm guessing Bill will be our coach).

I've been saying this for years now. We have a fan base like no other. How long does it take for Pollard to realize that a coaching change should have happened years ago. I suspect since the program doesn't generate $ like the men do, has weighed in on this. And here we are. Always has his favorites, the same assistant coaches, same game plan, continues to lose good players, under performs and Pollard sits back and turns a blind eye. A forever Cyclone here, but this is sad........

Your summary of the current situation is well thought through, balanced and thorough.

For those of us who are long-time Iowa State women’s basketball fans (since the 1980s in my case) your contributions to this forum are greatly appreciated.

Dang the 80's you were there during zero attendance. I jumped on when Bill came.

Money is the object, put a $5 boost on ticket prices and raise an extra $200,000 a year. For halftime entertainment, let some of the ISU groups provide some of the entertainment. Vick, band, and others might save some money. Need to get creative!

They did raise ticket prices over 25% this last season. I think a Coach like Dresser could be really needed for WBB. Someone who goes out and fundraises.

Our first WBB game the players shook hands with all of us that showed up. It was a handshake line for fans. My last year of season tickets was 2000 then the 2 big 12 tourney championships. Back when you could go to both in the same week and walk in between venues. Good way to go out watching Oklahoma fans leaving with 10 minutes to go.

I think we have a resource problem and a coaching problem. I don't think Fennelly is built for this new era of NIL and changing player expectations. How many of us have dealt with sea changes late career in how we do our jobs -- medical professionals who can't cope with electronic medical records, office people who "can't be bothered" to take on tasks they don't want and so unabashedly lean on a "work wife or husband" to do all the mundane stuff... That kind of thing? I don't think coaching is any different. I have big respect for anyone who's self-aware, including coaches like Tony Bennett, who say, "This isn't me. I'm gonna step aside." We all have inflection points in our careers when the train is leaving the station and you need to decide if you're staying on or getting off. Having the humility to say, "this is no longer for me" and getting out of the way should be the norm. When you've been compensated at a high level for many years and (hopefully) invested, money should be the least of your concerns.

I'd be interested in seeing what the halftime shows costs us. As much as I like acts like Red Panda, Simon Sez and Fargo Moorehead Acro team, etc. we could do more of our own halftime entertainment using some of our ISU organizations and not schedule as many as we do. I did a Google search on what some of these may cost for a halftime show, Red Panda may be $3500-5000 an appearance, Simon Sez was $1500-5000. Not sure where AI pulls those numbers from but it's safe to say some of the halftime shows can cost up to $5000 depending on how big/popular of an act they are. Let's just assume a conservative figure for an average act is $2000 between men's and women's BB guessing we could be spending close to half a million dollars on halftime entertainment.

Again just a complete shot in the dark it could be more or less. But if we need to cut some money somewhere we have cheaper options to fill some of those halftime shows like the ISU Groove Drumline, the dance team, probably some other music groups we could take advantage of while showcasing some of our own ISU talent. Or even just a halftime performance by a local music artist would probably cost significantly less for an appearance fee too.

A lot of truth here. I still remember when my wife looked at me and said, “you’re not having fun going to work anymore…why don’t you retire?” That was a look in the mirror moment and five months later I was retired.

Well we jacked up tkt prices this yr and the product on the floor maybe didn't worsen but certainly didn't improve.

We’ll probably hear something next week after this weekend concludes. But it also depends: if our MBB survives this weekend, then we might wait a little bit longer
