Trev Alberts (not dead or any other basic assumptions)

I think he meant first round draft picks. He wasn’t even the first 1st round pick by the Colts that year. They picked Marshall Faulk with the second pick.

Also, Dilfer was terrible for being the first QB taken in a draft. made 1 Pro Bowl. Sure he lasted a long time, but the Ravens could have had a sack of potatoes at QB in 2000 and probably could have won the Super Bowl. He had 12 TDs and 11 INTs that year.
Dilfer was the 2nd QB taken as Heath Shuler went 3rd overall to Washington.

If they take Dilfer there's a very good chance they don't get Peyton a few years later.

It's a stretch to say Dilfer "led" them to a Super Bowl...the Ravens defense led them to the Super Bowl...Dilfer just didn't screw it up.
I could have won the Superbowl with that defense.... and my football experience was limited to flag football.

Did Joe Namath help lead his team to a Super Bowl? He threw 15 TDs and 17 INTs that year. Critics of Super Bowl Champion QBs like Dilfer, Eli (2), Plunkett (2) crack me up. "All he had to do was...", "Ravens could have had a sack of potatoes at QB." Clueless.

More on Namath: In his 13 seasons, in only 2 did he have more TDs than INTs. In his career: 173/220 and he's in the Hall of Fame.

Well Namath was MVP that year so yea, I’d say if you’re the MVP of the league you could say he led them to the Super Bowl.

Dilfer was a terrible NFL QB.
