Same. No idea why, given how wildly popular it is. I thought it was fine, but nowhere near my favorite.

Lebowski is just so funny and the acting is perfect. Burn After Reading is funnier at times but more crude. That's why I love the Coen Brothers though. They can make even a serious movie funny and still light hearted. O Brother walked that serious/goofy/satire line perfectly. Plus the music is just great and really makes you feel like you're in the 1930s. I just love their movies.
I haven't even seen Miller's Crossing or Blood Simple. Really should considering they're possibly my favorite directors.

If you have never seen "Intolerable Cruelty", you are missing pure, comedic genius.

This. I think maybe it's because it doesn't really glorify the lifestyle in the way that other films in the genre do. Think about it. The bosses are easily manipulated idiots. The cops are toadies. Everybody betrays everybody. The protagonist is a piece of crap, who tries to play all of the angles, but doesn't play them well enough to avoid multiple beatings and very close brushes with death. And even though he "succeeds" he gains nothing, and is in a worse place than he was at the beginning.
Certainly other gangster movies show the dark side of the life, but there's usually always the glamorous side as well. Not here. In Miller's Crossing, at no point does that life look at all appealing. Just chaotic.
