This is depressing... :(

Because college athletics have never been crazier and schools have never been more greedy than they are right now.
We certainly agree there but we're also leaving out (because we're sports fans) that leaving the Big Ten Research Consortium would cost the academic side of the university literally billions of dollars over a decade.

The SEC doesn't have anything resembling the same academic clout.

Maybe, but I don't it, where are they going to go to get more money than what they are getting now, and if they would go to the SEC, they have equal revenue sharing. So they are going to leave the B10 but take less money and equal revenue from the SEC? Or they could go independent, look at Washington State and Oregon State to see how that is working out, ND gets less money off their TV deal than any B10 gets, what helps out ND is they get all the money when they make the football playoff and get a pay out even if they do not.
The powers of the B10 can still be willing to give up on unequal revenue, that will not have to votes to change it, but push for more money from the playoffs and bb tournaments.
You keep talking about votes like the lesser teams in the conference have any leverage here. You think Big 12 schools wanted to vote for unequal revenue sharing?

The next media deal the top teams in the SEC will get paid more than the top teams in any other conference.

Very true. That’s definitely more of a roadblock than thinking Ohio State is just going to play nice next go around.

The difference is that the big12 schools didn’t want Texas jumping ship, there isn’t anywhere that Michigan wants to go. I could say the same for OSU as they are somewhat connected but I don’t know much about how OSU operates.

Michigan is literally talking about going independent as we speak!

They aren’t my man. I know you want to believe this but it’s no different than when OSU talked about it during the COVID season. It’s public posturing to get people talking and look at you, it’s clearly working.

Michigan isn’t leaving for a wide number of reasons

They’re just doing it to get people talking? What good does that do?

Put more pressure on the big ten, get other boards and regents to pay attention, get fans and most importantly donors to reach out to the schools. All the reporting and everything I have heard is that the commish tried to rush this through and many parties haven’t even seen the full terms of the deal. The more attention they can bring to this BS the better.

There is also the fact that due to this pressure the Cali pension fund has already come out and said that they won’t move forward unless it’s unanimous.

Put more pressure on the Big Ten to agree to equal revenue sharing?

Tradition matters in college sports right? That’s why rivalries are dying, geography matters zero and things are changing on a dime that make little sense to college sports. I mean Stanford and Cal are in the Atlantic Coast Conference for football!

What more proof do you need that money is all that matters?
This. x1,000.

I keep talking about votes, because if the lesser teams would have had 9 votes they would have gotten equal payouts passed, but they did not have the votes. They tried to get Nebraska to be that 9th vote by stopping the prop 48 vote. KU, KSU and ISU said they would vote to stop the move, if Nebraska would vote to be the 9th vote for equal revenue sharing, Nebraska refused, so all three schools voted to stop the practice.
Why should the lesser schools in the B10 give up equal sharing revenue. You seem to think that they will do it out of fear that the "have: schools will leave if they don't. What happens if those schools call their bluff and vote to keep the revenue equal? There is no place that the "have schools" can make more money than what they currently do. A deal will be struck, equal media money, and unequal shares of the playoff and BB tournament money.
