Oh please, he was nothing but humble and was prasising Campbell and Iowa State not only in the press conference but in his tv show taping as well.

Thats just plain sour grapes if you think that was his intention. He has alot of respect for Campbell and our players. I won't even get into the fact alot of his family are Isu fans, so yeah, I'm sure his intention was to embarrass his own family by pulling a "douche move" like that.

Why don’t you actually go to a board for a team you actually root for.

I want to point out one thing, ksu winning this game assured another team in the conference with a winning record regardless of bowl outcomes

I also believe Reggie wanted Bill to go out of Snyder Family Stadium with a win, I think everyone expects Bill to retire.

Don't know how much this played into the crews conversations, but I'm sure that none of them wanted to be the reason Snyder lost his last game.
I think the early game calls or missed calls were just that. The Garcia phantom hold could've been that the official didn't see the whole play but just saw a DL on the ground and thought it looked like a takedown.
As for the end of the game crap, these guys probably didn't want to make the call that essentially seals the game.

And you believe Campbell would have attacked refs if not held but by some cops. It shows that you have no idea about ISUs staff and are trying to make your team sound better.

Also, did anyone else notice a K-State reciever lined up way offsides on one of their plays during the final drive? Not that it really made a difference, but it was very noticeable and there was an official standing right there

Can’t wait for the local media focus to be on not running the ball on 2nd and 6 because that’s what the hoks would have done rather than egregious officiating errors throughout the game.

Curious to hear from others...

Do you find the close losses/controversial parts of Cyclone fandom out weigh the joys of victory? I just seem to always be able to recall the "shoulda beens" more than the good things. Like this season, my mind/memories don't go to the major OU win, they go to the three or four "what could have been" plays. I'd say it goes beyond this year as I look to the past, too.

That is human nature. Negatives (pain) has a 3-4 times more emotional connection than equal positives. This has been proven in financial studies with positive and negative gains. The negative carries a much higher memory/emotion than the positive.

Just how many retirement games does Snyder get? ....This is billie bob's 2nd and if the next coach is another ron French .....well then good old billie bob will be back at it because KState cant hire a Matt Campbell because nobody wants to be Frenched so to speak....

I honestly don't know if the fix was in for this game, but there was KState Favortism by these rotten....corrupt big 12 officials that cost us that game....nobody and I mean nobody who saw that game can argue otherwise.......

Great Point capncy...I can remember a Mizzou game at Columbia.....where late in the game the officials called a phantom pass interference call on ISU ....why did it matter you ask.....because those 15 yards enabled Mizzou to kick a field goal and Tie The Game .....I will never forget the ending to that game......

I know everyone is still pretty upset....but gotta ask...

What incentive would the Big 12 have to screw ISU? Given that ISU is Oklahoma's only loss, wouldn't the conference want to pump them up as much as possible?

Here's how it went down:

Head Ref: So what's the call?
Ref 1: Defensive pass interference.
Ref 2: Are you sure you saw that?
Ref 1: Yes, he was all over him.
Ref 2: Are you positive, without a doubt?
Ref 1: I think so.
Ref 2: Are you sure you weren't blocked?
Ref 1: Yeah, I'm pretty sure I saw everything.
Ref 2: Pretty sure? So now you don't know?
Ref 1: Well... maybe I didn't see everything.
Ref 2: AHAH!! See, he didn't see PI. Pick up the flag.

Lazard was molested , they discuss it and then no pass interference.
Late to the party here, but yeah that one was obvious, flag thrown, the officials discuss, then eureka, no foul! We run the clock out if called properly there.

I say we had a million chances to not put ourselves in that situation and yet we did. This program needs to turn around and stop complaining about officiating . There are going to be bad calls in some games and we need to deal with it. I think it all started with the unsportsmanlike conduct.

Where was the program complaining about officiating? This is just us. CMC took the high road, as he should have. The program is doing great!

Alternate tinfoil hat interpretation

Head Ref: So what's the call?
Ref 1: Defensive pass interference...unless we will be getting some special (using air quotes) "Rivalry Week Christmas Cards".
Head Ref: Got mine! Yours is in the mail!
Ref 1: What did this latest Christmas Card have to say about...um...defensive pass interference in college football?
Head Ref: It said that the vast majority of them are just incidental contact.
Ref 1: Ok then...I accidentally dropped my flag. Would be nice to get my Christmas cards before gametime...
Ref 2: We have to pretend to discuss this for the TV cameras.
Ref 1: What did you have for dinner on Thursday?
Ref 2: Same old same old...
Ref 1: I had some great pecan pie. Kind of overdid it though, so it sucks that we switched back to belted pants from those elastic waistband ones we used to have...
Head Ref: That should do it...let's go...and let's not have anymore (using air quotes again) "dropped" flags...

There's a now-locked thread inviting someone to put together a video of the calls in question. As it turns out, I recorded the game in HD, and I have both the tools and the ability to do that. Is that something that anyone here would care to watch? Will it do any good? I'm having an internal debate before I spend a few hours doing it. I don't want to waste my time, and I'm not sure if I want to re-watch the game either to find all the penalties. If anyone wants a video put together, what would you want to see? All of the penalties called in the game, plus a few no-calls and the picked up flags?

Sure, I would love to be able to review those plays. And it would be interesting for us to see what explanations could possibly be made for the calls.

For instance, although I don't think it is the correct call, it is possible that the over-ruling ref thought that Lazard caused the contact by slowing down and thus moving into the defender who was making a play on the ball.

I'm also wondering if the phantom holding penalty on Garcia was actually meant for someone else. I've seen one replay and it certainly wasn't Garcia holding.

As I watched the 4th quarter, I said something about being glad that we got the bad calls in the 1st Q and not in the 4th Q. And that K-State fans must be getting pretty ticked. And then we got to the end of the 4th Q. Argh.

I think the fundamental problem was the main ref inserting himself too much into the game. He acted like a committee chairperson trying to influence the agenda to get something passed, not respecting his refs and letting them make calls. I wonder if there were some personnel dynamics on that crew from other games or off-the-field stuff.

Get Snyder a final victory at home in his last season. Also, Give me a good reason why the flags were picked up. Why the receiver was not called for a false start when he was standing right in front of the ref? I have not heard a good reason yet. Especially when the calls were correct to start with.

Exactly. I appreciate @farewayfool pointing out some of the science behind it...but it does stink.

I think our fan base has historically not has as much "good" to remember, so maybe especially when the "what if's" type of things happen, even more negative (Blarge, Big 12 North missed FGs, George's broken foot, Nebraska 2 pt conversion, Okie State this year, KSU, etc). I mean, this year we were a couple plays from SUPER special season....but to be fair this season IS super special given the turn around in one year and the big wins.

I know I have to remind myself (i did this morning)...a seven win regular season is REALLY good this year, given what most thought.
