Texas bball turmoil

Beards teams usually play defense, which requires a lot of work. Don't know if that's the case here.
Ding...ding...ding! And the coddled Texas kids certainly lack effort...suspect they don't like working in practice. Agree that he will work those out of the roster over the next 1-2 years.

I agree he's a good coach but his last two years at Tech they went 9-9 and 9-8 in big play. I don't think he's the miracle worker he's portrayed to be.

That's more consistency in success than Bob Knight and the best since they left the SWC in 1996.

Beard's worst conference record was his first year where he went 6-12, after that he bumped it up to 11 then 14 wins, his last two he won 9 games. So after his first season, the next four he went 500% or better in the league every year. Tubby Smith went 500% or better one time, Pat Knight never won more than 5 conference games and the two coaches after him won one and three. You have to go back to the Bob Knight years to find another 500% or better conference record, and the most conference games Knight ever won at TT was 10.

Beard can coach, plan and simple, it will take him a year to get his type of players in the league, but when he does, he will be fighting it out with Kentucky for the SEC conference championship.
I’m pissed that we’ve never had a coach win 500% of our games even once!

@SEIOWA CLONE was told there'd be no math...

Beard already lost this kid

There have been rumblings on social media that he isn't the only one unhappy. I've heard Marcus Carr is unhappy, makes sense, he's not playing well and also Christian Bishop who is playing about half the minutes he was getting at Creighton. Beard has always done a great job mixing in transfers with returning kids but this may have been a little too much.

We had a so-so experience with a Texas TAPPS player on the women's side in Whitney Williams. The competition, from what I understand, is not very good for TAPPS teams. I think our TAPPS player was also home-schooled, but competed for a TAPPS team.

Carr was never known a team guy, he's a volume scorer, never seemed like a Beard guy to me.
It was a big mistake by Beard to pursue and sign him. Carr had a history of being on bad teams with some talent and he was a reason those teams at Pitt and Minny didn't fare better.

Carr is not the type of guy that will lead a team to a final four. not a lot of quality production if you want to make a run. I think it could be a rough season for Beard in year one, compared to the hype he generated at the beginning of the year.

I hope he stays until Jan 14.
