Ted Turner has passed away

"When I was a boy the news was half an hour. A guy would come on, wear a tie, and give you 30 minutes. That was the whole news. Now they have entire channels—24 hours of constant, nonstop news. Turns out, back in the old days… they had it about right."

- Norm MacDonald
One of my best friends, who worked in DSM news media for 40 years said, "There's 30 minutes of news tonight, whether anything happened or not."

As a born and raised in Iowa TBS kid, I will always cherish the memories of running inside on a June evening after a little league game to catch the last few innings of the Braves on the superstation. RIP Ted Turner.
I was a bit older and I sort of resented that they were being promoted as "America's Team."

**** that! What billionaire gets to decide they're team is "America's Team?"

Kind of like the Cowboys in the NFL.

Massage your egos somewhere else.

The man was a pioneer though I do wonder how much different cable news looks today if he'd been bought out by anyone other than AOL/Time Warner in the late 90s.
