Tailgate move question

Would this be in B5 by the bus stop with its abnormally large parking space on the north?

A few years ago we parked in that lot and used to try to park there. A couple times we didn't get there in time and kind of gave up. Then one time we were there about an hour after the lots opened and this space was available, so we parked there. A bit later the other group came in and one woman eventually came over and said, "You must have got here really early," and we said, "Not really."

We haven't parked in that lot for at least three years, so it won't bother me where you park.

I have parked in this location for the last three years or so with a much bigger contingent (in that row).We all arrive at various times, but mostly earlier than four hours before game time. Of course, it is first come first serve, but if someone is in "our" spot, the war will be on and will build our tailgate around yours. Unless of course, you are extremely nice looking, charming, have plenty of cold beer, and invite us all to be part of your tailgate.

Another way to think about this: what happens if/when a completely different "group" or single family gets there first? Never been in that lot before, don't know someone has often parked there in past years. Is that a dilemma? I don't think so.

This reminds me of time I moved the garbage can...We were having burgers(wax paper between the patties and it was windy). Thought I was doing the right thing, but some lady was not happy with me.

Very notable point here...your actions this first game by taking "their" spot could spark an all out war between the two groups. Before you know it, you'll have to show up at 1AM to claim your spot for every game.

Heck with getting their early for the tent spot. I'm getting their early for the fireworks!

Wow...first tailgate/game is tomorrow!! Nothing you didn't already know, just had a moment sitting here and got super excited.

Seems to me it depends on how much you enjoy staying in the same spot all year. Sounds like both of these two groups enjoyed tailgating in a single area for a substantial amount of time. As some have noted, it is highly likely that if this other group actually cares about the spot as much as you think, they will be motivated to show up earlier to claim the spot next week. This could lead to your two groups switching back and forth depending on who got the upperhand that particular week. Probably not the most pleasant situation for either side.

If the other group doesn't really care about that spot enough to start showing up earlier, then the point is moot.

If that is the spot. Come and say hi. We tailgate about 3 rows straight north of that bus stop.

What's funny is that we did this exact same thing in the exact same spot a couple years ago. It was the first game of the year and I thought the people were going to cry. The next game they actually got there before the lot opened and had someone sitting there in a lawn chair.

The only thing I know about this group is that one of them drives a Honda Ridgeline and there is some 40+ woman who dresses like she's 20 and likes to get drunk and dance.

So here is my question. For the last 3yrs we have tailgated in the same spot however this year we are planning to move to a new location that has been occupied by another group the last 3 years. We don't mingle with them, we just know they will be there as they always have been at their spot and us at ours.

This year, our group has collectively decided that we would like to move to the spot that has been occupied by the other group. I know we can get it because we always arrive an hour or so earlier than they do. We didn't do it midseason last year because we thought it would be a crappy thing to do to them in the middle of the year, but this is a new season. My opinion is first come, first serve.

Are we aholes for doing this and forcing them to find a new spot??

FYI...our tailgate is much larger and more elaborate than theirs.

:biglaugh:

A couple of years ago for the Iowa game, we took a spot that another group normally takes (We needed a little more room). We got there about two hours before they did. When they pulled up they simply parked next to us. We heard a guy talking on the cell phone telling his buddy that they didn't get their usual spot, but was right next to it. His buddy must have said something like, "How come you didn't kick their ***?" because the guy said, "I would have, but they are all bigger than I am."

What we did was go over and say we could combine tailgates if that was okay and have a great time. Met some great folks that way.

If you are going to do this, then go over, introduce yourself and invite them to join in with you. Can't have too many Cyclone friends, right?

In this economy, you can't be sure if they even renewed their tickets. Take the spot if they're not there first. There's no rule, that I know of, that says you can't park there.

Well, I am 50+ who dresses like a I am in my 60s and I like to get drunk and dance. She sounds like she's my type of woman.:jimlad:

What is the protocol to deal with that? I mean, I don't see how you could reserve spots that way before things open and not get your *** kicked.

I'm fine with it. If they want to go to all that trouble they can have the spot. I just want them to always have in the back of their head that if they are 2 minutes late, I'm taking their spot :)

I don;t get there early to get a good spot. I get there early to drink, etc.

Well stop over about an hour before the game starts. It's pretty funny watching her hit on college guys.

Just to be clear, she's 50+, not 40+ and she is not is the same group as the Ridgeline. She does, however, make the rounds up and down the aisle.

Now that you say that, I don't remember her being there most of the time but when she is there I remember it. It's funny to watch.

I get embarrassed for her. She dances around like Elaine Benes. She was absent most of last year...
