T-Mobile 5G Internet

Looking to possibly move on from Mediacom for my ISP. Recently received direct mail piece that T-Mobile 5G internet is available at my residence for $50/mo.

Has anyone tried and what was your experience? Based on what I have seen online, the speed isn't the best, but adequate for home that might only have 1 or 2 simultaneous streams. My home is < 1 mile from the main cell tower in area, not sure that matters.

I have had it for 2 years almost and I love it. I have only had one issue and they sent me a replacement in 2 days. If you have an outage with mediacom you could wait a couple of weeks.
 
I have had it since May, I work from home, and we're streamers. I live about 10 miles outside of CR and have been very happy with it. It was really our only option, this summer fiber was ran in the area but not up yet. Still don't know if we will switch or stay with T-Mobile?
 
I just tested my T-Mobile 5G internet connection, although I don't use it. Got 299 Mbps download. That's in Altoona.

I wish it was available in my area. I live in a small town with one internet service provide. 25mb DSL connection for almost $110 (because I also have to have a home phone through them). Total rip-off.

I have a few friends that use it. No issues at all, crappy weather doesn't bother it either. Much better than mediacom or centurylink
 
I sold T-Mobile phones when I was younger. If they're still using IWireless towers I'd avoid it but hopefully they have finally invested in their own towers in Des Moines.

My At&t 5G basically never works anywhere in Des Moines for comparison.

Comes down to your address really, since it is based on cell coverage. If you get good 5G speeds with a TMO phone at your house, you will likely be pleased with the home internet too.

Yes this thread is discussing T-Mobile's HOME internet 5G offering. The device is larger than a phone, with more antenna, that is stationary. This is what mine looks like.

We used it for a month as a trial while our starlink was out. It worked really well where we live in BFE.

Funny thing was when we were at the store and the guy pulled up our address to see if we'd have coverage he said "Hmmm that's weird it looks like there's a big spot right in front of your house with no coverage but coverage every where else." To which I responded "that isn't a coverage dead area, it's our pond showing up on your map". LOL

I've used it for a year or so in SE Wisconsin with no complaints other than an occasional need to reboot my router. Went from 15mbit AT&T dsl (with significant slowdowns in peak times ) to ~300 mbit service while saving $25 per month in the process ($15 on internet, $10 on youtube tv).

Thanks for feedback. I think I'll give it a try. Based on coverage map in Dubuque I might only get 4G connection. Looks like they also offer a 15 day money back guarantee, so worth checking out before football season kicks in.

Bunch of people at work use it and love it. Not good for gaming though, but great for everything else.
